Question

Games disappeared from my son's library

Once again I'm having to come here because the terrible in app support chat bot forces me to go in circles! I swear this platform is the worst developed I've ever used. I appreciate this is a community help but the development team (or bots because King Zuckerberg fires humans in favour of AI) need to see how badly they are doing hence the rant above.

I am the parent for my son's account, on the 7th of August 2025 but purchased a game, he tried to play it yesterday and he needs to request it again but it now has a cost of Β£8.99! Why am I having to pay Β£8.99 for a game I already paid for last year? The game in question is Kaiju Battle Simulator, screenshot of the store history attached.

Honestly I can't wait for him to grow out of this VR phase and get bored of it, I hate it. Genuinely hate it. The parent child management side of it is ridiculous, it's obvious no one ever consulted an actual parent to test it along the way, gifting is hit and miss, purchases disappear, only 1 parent can manage a child meaning it falls on them to approve things and I can't even remove the restrictions now to give him free access because Meta seem to think they know how to parent my child better than me.

Hi Triggsy πŸ™‚

he tried to play it yesterday and he needs to request it again but it now has a cost of Β£8.99!

Maybe you just have to approve the request and then he is able to download the game from the store... without purchasing it again?

I guess, it only vanished from the library because it wasn't used in a while?

There is a setting in the storage section of the headset settings that offload unused apps... it's toggled on by default. You can exclude apps from this or you can completely toggle it off.

Anyways, I have no experiences with child accounts and this is just wild guessing.

Try if you can get a human to talk to in the WhatsApp section of Meta support. Good luck.🀞

Thanks again, I approved it and it doesn't appear to show on transactions. Again, this just highlights poor development. Why show approve and a price of Β£8.99? It makes put like I need to buy it for Β£8.99 showing a "Purchased" message instead would be sensible πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

Like I said, I have no experience with child accounts, but I could imagine that the price appears because you bought it as a gift.

There is no purchase on YOUR account, therefore it shows you a price.πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Btw. I'm more than happy that my kids are adult and I don't have to deal with child accountsπŸ€ͺπŸ˜‚

Yes, it's not great. Thankfully my kids are well grown up but it might not be long before they have the same problems with their kids! Anyway, try not to get too frustrated, doesn't do any harm for your son to spend more time in the real world rather than the virtual one! With the link from Choleni you can talk to an actual human Meta support person who hopefully can help.. I've noticed that the WhatsApp link seems to be the best one. Good luck! πŸ€žπŸ€žπŸ€πŸ€

Hi, I absolutely agree, I hate VR and limit time when he is with me however the issues arise when he is with his mum or her family and it's down to me to deal with when not near him and it's constant usage but I won't over share more than that πŸ™ˆ

Thanks for your help
