Meta link not installing

I needed to reinstall the meta link to try and fix a problem, but now it's refusing to install, it gets almost all the way through the installation process, the shortcut even appears, but it then vanishes and says an error occurred, and no matter how many times I restart, the problem persists, can someone help me please?
