Question

Meta Quest 1 Support and Accessing Oculus Account Purchases

Hi all,

I have purchased a second-hand Meta Quest 1 and cannot register the device to my account, and subsequently have no support from Meta. The Serial Number has faded on the side of the headband, there is no box, and the serial number from the controller has been rejected when submitting in the 'Get Help' options provided by the AI Agents. It is asking for this information to be passed to a Human Agent, but obviously cannot proceed past this serial number issue and raise a ticket for support.

I am seeking help in accessing lost Oculus Account Purchases from 2022 and seen online that there was an email issued with codes to redeem these purchases in the newer Meta Accounts. I do not have this email with codes, but I have access to purchase receipts for these items from my previous account. Can I have assistance with the below queries:

  • How can I access a Human Agent while circumventing this AI Agent prompt going in circles and being blocked by the Serial Number issue for an out of support device?
  • Is there a contact email address to raise a ticket to access customer support?
  • What information is required to access the redemption codes for previously purchased products from the Oculus Accounts?
  • Is there a way to avoid a Data Subject Access Request for the lost email that documented the initial email account of Oculus Accounts being decommissioned and deleted?

Would greatly appreciate any support in navigating this scenario.

Unfortunately, if you don't have a serial number, nobody can identify the device. It is impossible to identify one unidentifiable headset amongst the millions of Quest 1 headsets sold if you have no serial number. This is the reason you're not getting anywhere with Meta Support. As for accessing lost Oculus accounts you had until April 2024 to update it to a Meta account.. The emergency code sent after that date to subscribers who missed the deadline was auto generated and only the recipient of the email has access to it.

You are trying to retrieve an account where you have no security code to access it, and you are trying to get support for a headset that you cannot identify. You cannot raise a ticket for a device that has no identification. You need to be careful when you buy second hand products.  Your only option is that if you know who you bought the headset from, ask them if they might have some documents that might have the serial number on it. Then with that serial number, you will be able to raise a support ticket. The other option is to contact a reputable psychic who might be able to use a crystal ball to discover what device you have. The other possibility is that you wrote all this as a joke, as I don't think any serious person would expect to have a resolution from the information you have given. Maybe Dr. Peter Venkman can help.

BTW, I meant to say, controller serial numbers cannot help identify a headset as they can often be replacements for broken ones so that's why they're not directly linked to a headset.

    Hi toastytoast2026โ€‹ ๐Ÿ™‚

How can I access a Human Agent while circumventing this AI Agent prompt going in circles and being blocked by the Serial Number issue for an out of support device?

You don't need a serial number, you don't even need to own a device if you have questions about your account or purchases.

You can contact Meta support via email, chat or WhatsApp HERE

But I don't think they can help you if you don't have the code to restore your games... try it.

I have purchased a second-hand Meta Quest 1 and cannot register the device to my account,

Why can't you register it? What's going wrong?

Thank you for the link to reach out to the team - I will try this soon.

The issue with registration seems to be the removal of support for a Quest 1. The serial numbers are being rejected and prevents me from proceeding past the AI Agents.

You can usually find the box serial number from the Meta Account Center. Also, you will find the device serial numbers in the Meta Horizon app on your phone.

Yeah, it's like me trying to book a warranty appointment with the Apple "geniuses" after my iPhone completely died, but to book the appointment, the web page insisted on sending a confirmation code to my non-working iPhone ๐Ÿคช.
