I received the Meta Quest 3 headset on October 12th.
Launched, updated the software.
And I started playing games while connected via Oculus Link to my laptop.
On October 12, 13, everything was just great. Half Life Alyx has a fantastic level of graphics, a stable frame rate, there was not a single glitch.
This morning I picked up the helmet again and noticed that the image quality had become terrible. Even in the lobby menu, it's terrible.
There is no clarity of the image, the effect of a ladder and ripples is especially noticeable on the lines.
I launched the same Half Life ALyx, and it was a terrible soap. Worse than in Quest 2.
Also, while playing Blade and Sorcery, I noticed that the frame rate dropped. Although in the settings it is worth "raising the frame rate to 120 so that where possible".
Changing the settings of the frame rate, screen resolution in the Meta-application did not give results.
Resetting to factory settings via the Meta application also did not give results.
Resetting to factory settings by pressing the off key and adjusting the volume on the helmet then also did not give results, the image is still of poor quality.
The lenses are clean, there are no stains.
I attach 2 screenshots, but I can assure you that the quality in the screenshots is better than what I actually see.
In fact, the reflection in the mirror and the palm tree look much worse than in the screenshots, they are very blurred and pixelated.
THIS IS NOT A SOLUTION - MARKING ONLY FOR VISABILITY
Hey everyone! I wanted to pop by on this thread about the graphics quality of the Quest 3 devices. I completely get wanting to get a clear view of what you're seeing on your headset. I recommend reporting this issue so that our engineers can be able to look into it further. The more information from other users, the better they'll be able to determine how to fix this issue.
Peace is a lie, there is only passion. Through passion, I gain strength. I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken. The force shall free me.
In the attachment above Meta says they are aware people are having issues with this bug but 4 months later there is no software fix. Meta support acts like the bug doesn't exist and their only solution is to send you a refurbished quest 3 in worse condition than the one you own. Replacing a $500-$650 Quest 3 with a refurbished Quest 3 is not a solution. You will lose a lot of customers if you don't provide a software fix. Once again if you don't know what I am talking about, if you happen to turn on battery saver mode in the quest 3 power settings it puts your headset into a low resolution mode that is impossible to get out of. Numerous factory resets will not get you out of this mode.
I'm on my second device. When purchased first device it was sharp really sharp 2 days later it all went to **bleep** graphics are BAD blurry unfocused so fort problem with device. Got it changed I fort surely it was faulty. Switched new one on and from the off it was terrible. Games look crap main menus not as clear it's just a piece of **bleep**. Not settings change anything not changing resolution or anything makes a difference. Then I see other users and there's are clear as day. I'm not happy after paying out 500 notes
Did you ever find a solution? I just got a replacement quest three and itβs super blurry. The one I sent him to get fixed was not. But they sent me a different one back. Itβs terrible.
I was experiencing poor quality and low bitrate using VD. Tried everything but nothing worked..
Until... I discovered VD was using my AMD CPU (radeon) graphics instead of the proper graphics card. Go into device manager and under 'display adaptors' you can disable the cpu graphics function there. Fixed the issue for me. If this doesn't help or is not related to your problem then apologies.
I am also experiencing really poor graphics tried loads of things mentioned to no avail, beginning to think this is faulty and unfit for purpose especially how its advertised as the best there is, well I am getting blurry videos and game play considering sending back.
I now have the same issue while connected to Steam VR with the Quest 3 which has recently occurred. Before I went on holiday to the UK all was fine with great clarity and all I ever did before was connect to Steam VR via my PC. This process was straight forward and the graphics were how they are supposed to be, clear with good frame rates. Upon my return I did not use the headset for a couple of weeks and then decided to pick up where I left off. Connected to Steam VR the same as ever and immediately noticed that the clarity had gone. Absolute garbage clarity, similar to Minecraft graphics! I restarted the headset and Steam VR but it has not helped. The whole environment has gone into Minecraft mode and is unplayable. I can only assume that whatever the last update was for the Quest 3 may have caused this but I have no idea as I never keep track of the updates. One thing I must note is that I have an AMD Radion Sapphire Pure 7800 XT which begs the question whether the issue lies there with incompatibility between AMD and Meta. We all know the issues suffered with AMD cards and VR, itΒ΄s the only thing that I can think of unless there are Nvidia users suffering with the same symptoms?
it doest matter if i connect my quest with my pc and play games via steam
or just go in this mode from the pictures above
even the new batman looks really bad and that kills the fun for me.
i tried everything, downloaded side quest did some changes, nothing happened, i paid 10β¬ for the quest games optimizer even when i put the settings to the maximum it doesnt help at all
i have no idea what i (we) should do
that is btw my second quest 3 with 512GB because i thought a new one should fix this problem
Sorry to hear that, I do recall the terrible graphics and have a single Quest 3 512GB and use a 7900 XTX for PC VR, with WiFi 6E.
Maybe double check that your power saving option on the quest 3 headset is disabled.
SideQuest, I have only been able to successfully change my settings when plugged into the PC and changing config from the PC. (I tend to max the CPU & GPU as I play compute intensive games. Change Default resolution to Quest 3, and I always disable that stupid FFR (Fixed Foveated Rendering - This is what blurs all the edges and makes reading hard), FFR is only feasible with eye tracking which we lack.
Each time the headset restarts, this needs to be set again, unfortunately.
QGO, I have found works very well for me for many of the older games with lower graphics, it does allow some resolution upscaling and I tend to manually set the CPU & GPU & rest for only the more modern intensive games. (I'm not sure if you would find any luck or hints with the Oculus Debug Tool.)
For wireless PC VR play, I have not had stable luck with steam link or Quest link, but only Virtual Desktop.
I live in South Africa, minimal meta footprint, so do not have great options with regards to returns and support over here, so we generally have to make do best with what we can and have, even if means jumping through a few hoops.
