Meta Quest Hardware Failure! Now out of Warranty :-(

Hi,

My son saved up his pocket money to purchase a Meta Quest Headset, which he got in December 2023. The motherboard has failed, which has been confirmed by a local tech specialist. After very lengthy coms with Meta and going around in circles, Meta will only replace the headset at a cost. It is disappointing that they do not honour and value their customers to offer a longer warranty on such an expensive tech product. It has just left my son disappointed with the product and the company..

Unfortunately there is a maximum warranty of one or two years, depending on local legislation in the country you are based. Your headset is outside of the warranty period.. This is normal for all electronic products. Why would you think Meta is any different!? Just be aware this is a user only forum dedicated to troubleshooting Quest VR headset operating issues. We are not the complaints dept for Meta. If you wish to do that I will leave a direct email link below to Meta support where you can complain directly.  As for the device itself you could try to find a  3rd party repairer in your country who might be able to fix it at a cheaper price than buying one at cost. In the US there is https://www.fixmyoculus.com/

Other countries have similar repair services.

Anyway here is the link to complain to Meta directly. Good luck. 🤞🤞🍀🍀

Thanks for your prompt response. It is just disappointing, when the hardware failure (motherboard) is catasptrophic, which ultimately renders the product useless. It is not worth spending more money to try and repair. I accept Meta have offered a slight discount on a new product, but we simply cannot afford to fork out again to replace after such a short period of owning the headset.

I will email Meta on the email you have provided. Thanks.

Yes, it's unfortunately a hard reality, I had a $1,200 Samsung Note phone die completely a couple of months after the 2 year warranty ended. You never know what you might get if you push them, I've seen some people get extra Quest cash as an additional payment to buy a few games.
