Quest 3 Headset and controllers battery draining fast

Dear, I had a Quest 2 and I never had a problem with discharge, I charge it to 100 percent and after a few days when I turn it on it is still 100 percent, which is not the case with the Quest 3. The Quest 3 discharges by itself even though it is completely turned off. In the same way, the batteries in the controllers are discharged very quickly, they last only a few days until they reach 20 percent, which was not the case with the Quest 2 controllers, the batteries lasted for months.
I have read a lot on the net, everyone has problems with controllers, my opinion is that it is a software problem, but no one will say that.
It wouldn't be bad if you put in a little effort and correct the mistakes instead of giving people advice that doesn't help.

Exact same thing has happened to mine, brand new set of batteries put in a couple of months ago at the end of my gaming session, not used the headset since. Turned on today and controller batteries are flat...how can that be from no play at all?

So, has anybody actually gotten a satisfactory solution to this problem yet?

And why do support staff keep pulling people into PMs? Nothing ever comes of this, and it basically just wastes everybody's time. Are the support staff actually real people, or just bots diverting people away from the problem?

Why not just give solutions here out in the open for everybody to see?

It would be OK, and more honest, to say "We don't have a clue what's going on, we will pass this information on to the developers." And then perhaps update us every so often.

Hey again gijoe50000! It's good to hear from you once more, during our PM, conversation we never received a response from you to further investigate a resolution. We invited users to speak with us through PMs, so we can collect the proper information privately instead of being on a public thread. We sorry this has been an ongoing issue for you, however reassure we would love to get you back enjoying your Quest 3 VR experience. Looking forward to providing further assistance through your open PM. Have a legendary rest of your day!

Yea, I have problems logging into this forum because the site seems to be confused by my Oculus and non-Oculus accounts, and it tries to log me in with my Oculus account when I'm already logged in, but not logged in, and then it just starts going around in circles and takes me back to the forum home page. But from time to time it does happen to log me in.

And today was one of those days.

But, the info in the PM a few weeks ago was pretty generic, and certainly not tailored to my original question, which had nothing to do with the headset itself. The response I got in the PM was:

Regarding your draining battery, please confirm the following to proceed:

  • Use of official meta charging cables
    • Using charging cables and adapters other than the official charging cable/adapter can damage the battery slowly over time
  • Leaving the headset plugged in for days or weeks at a time can damage the battery over time, especially if the headset is on, or asleep rather than turned off
  • Confirm that the batteries are fully charged(2 hours)
    • Rechargeable batteries will naturally become less effective over time

.. and not relevant, because the same batteries last for months in the Quest 2. But the problem seems to be specific to the Quest 3 controllers, as I mentioned in the original post.

But I don't see the point of going into PMs, I mean, if there's a solution to this problem then you should just tell people what it is, because clearly a lot of people are experiencing this problem.

Answer in the forum, not in private message. Unbelievably awful customer support here.  Obviously a lot of people are having this issue and would like to work this issue as a group which is the point of the forum.

I have the same problem with my controllers, they drain extremely fast. I might get one use of them and when I come back a week or two later, they are drained. Compared to the Quest 2 it's extremely frustrating.

So I just changed my batteries again a few days ago, and judging by my last comment here, the batteries lasted about 2 weeks this time.

I might try the controller repair method mentioned above and see if it makes a difference..

For everyone that has had replacements already due to this issue I recommend providing a bug report! The more reports the better and checking with the new software update v68 if the issue continues!

We are all mad here.

Having the same issue. Controllers battery drain while Quest 3 is turned off. So if I plug in new batteries and turn off the Quest 3, batteries will loose all capacity in 2-3 weeks.
