Quest 3 won’t turn on past Black Screen

So, I was in my car trying to play beat saber demo and I was trying to create a boundary and it didn’t work (obviously). Then my quest just shuts off I tried turning it on and only saw a black screen.

Sadly same to me πŸ’”, what did you do to solve the issue?

Hey there SwitchedGlobaly, thank you for bringing this up, we understand you are having some issues powering your Quest 3 after trying to set the boundary. We would love to see what we can do to help!

First things first, please make sure your headset is charged by plugging it in for an hour or so. Then, press and hold the power button for 30+ seconds and this should force the headset to reboot.

Let us know how that goes! If everything is working, we would love to know.

I am having the same issue. My headset will not turn on after being on charge for a while. Tried pressing the power button down 30 sec and it still did not turn on or force a reboot. I verified the charger works. The headset will not turn on at all.

so I have an oculus quest 3S in for some dumb reason I tried getting on it in a car and ever since then like it won’t turn on like the screen will just stay black. I’ve tried holding the power button for 30 seconds. I’ve tried charging it then doing it and it still won’t work

I hope you weren't driving 😁.

Try casting it using the Meta Horizon phone app. Does it wake up the screen?

Hey there, playa! It looks like you are having issues getting your Quest 3 headset to turn on. We want you to be able to get back in the game as soon as possible, so let's get things rolling. First, we would like to make sure you are aware of and using our best practices when charging your headset. To do so, you can check out this link. With you already trying to reboot the headset, we want to suggest the final troubleshooting step of a factory reset. We always suggest making sure your cloud backup is enabled before performing the factory reset. If this does not resolve your issue, please let us know so we can proceed accordingly. Thank you for your time. We hope to hear back soon!

Quest 3 won’t turn on. It’s full battery. Was playing then all of a sudden it stopped. When I try to turn it back on it goes to the symbol then shuts off. I tried to factory reset and still the same thing. As well as force start.

Hi, I am now getting the same issue. First i had this issue where a popup appears that said Lost Tracking or something.  The controllers weren't working then they just vibrate every few seconds. I factory reset the device and now I'm just getting a black screen with the controllers vibrating at an interval.

All I did was plug it in the metaquest until the green light popped up. Prior to that plugging in wasent working or nothing. I let it be for a day then all was good. Good luck

I had a similar problem but mine is a bit different : So my Quest 3 had problems before that Meta just sent me a new one using the warranty. But the BRAND new one has a black screen that isnt being affected by power button at all or power + volume down except for a small grey flash on the screen however I can hear it I can hear the Quest setup sound and start up and shutdown sounds just can't get the display to work.

Hey there! We understand you are having issues with your new headset and we would like to help assist you in getting this matter resolved. Have you tried leaving the headset on the charger or factory reset the device? If that does not work try these steps below as well:

  1. Remove any unsupported third-party accessories that may affect boot (such as external battery packs, accessories that plug into the USB-C port, etc.)
  2. Hard Reboot the headset
    1. Hold down the power button and volume down button for 30 seconds until you hear the boot-up sound
    2. If the boot-up sound is not heard:
      1. Hold the power and volume (-) button down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
      2. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight "Boot Device" and press the power button.
      3. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

Let us know if any of this works for you. If none of these things work please send us a PM. Enjoy the rest of your day!

If the standard resets do not help the depth sensors will be faulty. In video (see URL bellow) the guy beautifully shows how to replace them and the information that the side sensors are from Q2 may please many of us who have this problem πŸ˜‰ I had defective front sensors so I have to replace them with new ones. MetaStoreHelp don't you have many such reports? Those sensors look like they have a manufacturing defect because I had defects even without any impact which is the most common cause of malfunctions.

Hey, it is worth noting that whilst there are various resources you can find online to 'repair' or 'fix' your device yourself, doing so will likely void your warranty.

If you are experiencing any issues with your device, I would recommend reaching out to MetaStoreHelp first before attempting any DIY and later regretting it.

I hope you all have a great day! πŸ˜€

Hey somedud12,

We're sorry to hear your Quest 3 is experiencing a display failure issue at the minute - we'll do our best to get this resolved quickly for you!

Is the power LED on? Also, can you confirm you've attempted to charge the device for 2 hours?

If there's still no display, please make sure to remove any unsupported third-party accessories that may affect boot (such as external battery packs, accessories that plug into the USB-C port, etc.)
We'd also recommend you perform a hard reboot:

In the event you're still looking at a black screen, please send us a DM and we'll investigate further with you.
