Quest 3S bricked by update - Support told me to use ADB command tools but I don't own a computer!

My Quest 3S was completely bricked in a permanent power menu boot loop immediately following a forced Meta software update. I have already done a full hardware factory reset, but the core system files remain corrupted. Support originally refused a free replacement because my warranty is expired and told me to pay $209.99. Now, they just emailed me telling me to manually flash the firmware using Android SDK developer tools on a PC, warning me that doing so might make the device totally unusable! I don't even own a computer. It is completely unfair for Meta to push a broken update that ruins my functional hardware, and then expect me to act like a software developer or pay over $200 to fix it. Can a Meta forum moderator please escalate this ticket and help me get a free manufacturer replacement label?

Firstly there are no Meta staff here, no Meta moderators, no Meta community managers, we are all just users so they won't see your request. If you don't have a computer, borrow the use of one. Surely you have a friend who has a computer? It's not a complicated process. The warning is a standard one. If you do it correctly it won't brick your headset. You could also go to an internet cafe if you can find one. If you can't do any of those things, you can either buy another one as they suggested, or don't if you don't want to spend more money.  If your warranty is expired, it means exactly that, it's expired. I think that makes it clear for you. My advice, try to get hold of a friend with a computer and run the tools. In the end, if nothing works, $210 for a replacement is a very good deal. Better than buying a new one.  No point in complaining about the warranty, it is what it is and you can't change it.

Actually, official Meta Community Managers (like the accounts starting with @MetaQuest) do monitor these boards and regularly escalate support tickets for users facing firmware issues. While the hardware warranty is expired, manufacturer product liability does not expire when a forced, mandatory software update is what physically breaks a functional device. I am posting here specifically to reach the official support team for a supervisor review, not for basic retail advice.

They did in the past, not these days.

There aren't any posts from MetaStoreHelp  after December 2025. They don't reply in threads and they don't reply to PM anymore.

Only the announncements are still posted by them.

Btw, immediately edit your post and remove your device serial number from the comment. You are opening yourself to the having it hacked remotely in future, if it gets fixed. This is an open unsecured public forum.

Hi vaxoo263 πŸ™‚

they just emailed me telling me to manually flash the firmware using Android SDK developer tools on a PC, warning me that doing so might make the device totally unusable!

Hm, in my opinion your headset is currently totally unusable... you can't make it worse, or am I wrong?πŸ€”

Follow Maccyb123 suggestion of using a friend's pc and if this doesn't work, look for a headset repair service like "Fix my Oculus" - if you are in the US - or google for a headset repair service in your country.
