Quest 3S Passthrough Works, But Quest UI and Pointer Are Invisible

My Meta Quest 3S was working completely normally yesterday. Today, after logging into my Meta account, I started having a strange display/UI problem.

When the headset starts, passthrough appears. During startup, the passthrough goes black twice for a few seconds, then comes back.

After passthrough returns, I can see my room normally, but the Quest interface does not appear. I cannot see the Home menu, pointer, or other Quest UI.

The headset is still responding to inputs. When I press the Meta button on the controller, I hear the normal button sound. The controllers also seem to be working, but I cannot see the pointer.

I have already tried restarting the headset, forced restarting it, recovery/boot mode, and factory resetting it. The problem is still happening.

The headset worked perfectly yesterday, so I'm wondering if this could be a software/Quest OS problem or an issue with the Quest UI being rendered.

Could someone from Meta please help what me diagnose this? I would really appreciate it.

I had this quite a while ago on my 3S but it disappeared. I was able to fix it with a quick press on the side button and the normal menu pops up. Give it a try. I just got another update a few days ago, but I still don't have the problem. Let me know if the side button press works for you. 🀞🀞

If the headset is switching on and you can see a normal pass through view, it's unlikely to be hardware.  You should try to talk to Meta support, they might have a solution. Here's an email link.

You could also search the forum, maybe you'll find someone else with this who found a solution. Good luck

It's hard to say. You seem to have tried just about every possibility for a software fix except possibly one more thing.

Have you tried connecting the headset to your pc and running the Meta software update tool which can repair a janky download? It might just fix the issue. Here's the link. Connect the headset,, go to this page on your computer and run the tool. Hopefully it will fix it. Good luck πŸ€žπŸ€žπŸ€πŸ€
