Red blinking light, stuck in an endless loop. (Solved)

(Solved)

So uhhhh... I use the wrong charger... I used my phone charger instead of the one that cam with the Oculus Quest 2....

Hello everyone,

Intro (don't need to read this)

My Oculus Quest 2 has a red blinking light, meaning (what I read online) Its so empty that it can't do anything until its charged. When I use my Quest I plug it into a power bank, sometimes the headset decides it doesn't want to be charged so it depletes and turns off after an hour (maybe longer/shorter, truly no idea).

So this time again it didn't want to be charged and the battery depleted completely, even though I turned it off myself. I guess I didn't shut it off properly, because sometimes after turning it off, it turns itself on again (no I didn't press restart).

Problem

My quest gives a red blinking light, so I tried charging it. But when charging the red blinking light stops after a few seconds and goes solid white (meaning the screen is on). Its trying to boot up... Then the loading screen shuts off again and the light starts blinking red. This just goes on and on whilst its plugged into the charger. When I remove the charging cable nothing, but actually nothing happens.

What I tried

- Charging it the entire day, (wasn't charged when I came home, also no blinking light)

- Pressing the power button whilst plugged in and unplugged. Tried holding, pressing repeatedly

None of these helped

Questions

1. What the hell do I do...

Greetings,

Martijn

So if you have to squeeze two it’s blinking red you have to hold the power off button for 30 seconds and if that doesn’t work find a new charger and if that doesn’t work, you have to get a whole new oculus

Same thing happened to me today. These kinda things happen a lot to me but I somehow figure out how to fix it.

how it started was I was playing a high demand game while charging. Making the port and battery heat up a lot, so much so where it was draining faster then it could charge.
eventually I turned it off and let it charge, but instead of it charging it kept turning on instead of charging.
the way I got out of this cycle was by holding the volume down button and the power button down for a bit.
then I selected to power off my oculus and I did this while it was plugged in but it turned on again but after unplugging it and plugging it back in again instead of automatically turning on it showed the screen that shows that it was charging. But this was also bugged because it kept turning on and off so I left it for an hour on a low power charger.

after I came back after the hour it was completely dead so I got my laptop charger and plugged it into my oculus. This recognized the charger and started charging but the red light showing that it was dead was blinking meaning it still wasn’t charging.
so I held down the volume down button and the power button at the same time for around 45 seconds and it kept trying to boot but it couldn’t.
then I saw the meta logo for half a second and the blinking light stopped meaning it was dead but charging.

And in the inside of the screen showing it was dead but charging.
So far it’s been charging but it still shows the red light on the side. I think this is a bug also and the oculus can’t show that it’s charging but it is. So hopefully tomorrow morning when I boot it back up I will have a charge.

i hope this works for any of you that are dealing with this problem if it doesn’t fix yours I don’t know how to help after that.

Update: literally just after posting this my oculus turned on then immediately died which isn’t a bad thing because it means my battery isn’t completely dead to the point where it won’t charge.
I’ll continue to wait for it to charge but I think it’s still in the cycle of turning on and off which I hope it isn’t.

if it is i will try to manually update it and see if that fixes it

Due to the characteristics of the old local electricity, I've noticed that connecting the charger to the same plug but turning it upsidedown it use to solve the problem. At home, one of the wires is neutral, and the other alternates between positive and negative, which is not the modern use (alternating neutral with positive and neutral with negative). Does it make sense? (sorry about my bad English)
