[Resolved] - Quest 3 Elite Strap with Battery only connects for a few seconds

Is anyone working on the Quest 3 elite battery issue?  It charges but won’t connect to the headset for more than a few seconds, meaning you cannot charge through the back port.

We’ve seen some people having trouble with their Meta Quest 3 Elite Strap with Battery not being recognized by the headset or not charging. We’re happy to help look into this with anyone having trouble, and we recommend contacting our support team here so we can take a closer look.

I have tried every support avenue and I have the same problem. I am using the all in one charger. The battery charges, the battery button reset does nothing but to display a solid green light, connect for a moment then disconnect. This has to be a battery issue with the elite strap as I have plugged in a portable charger into the usb c and it works as if the headset is charging. No response from meta in WhatsApp, email, or on Facebook, so I think the only thing I can do now is return it to BestBuy, post a review of poor support and a product that doesn't work across social media to spread the word of the issue.

Just saw a YouTube saying v59 update is coming out for Quest 3 tomorrow 10/25.

One addition will be an extended battery mode that will reduce graphic fidelity for longer play time. 🙂

Meta are sending me a replacement and I don't need to send my elite strap back.(which makes me think they know of the problem)  Fingers crossed the next one works. If not I'm going for a bobo m3 pro if I can find any in the UK!

I'd avoid going with the new bobo m3 until they upgrade their batteries to meet Q3 requirements (9v/2.5-3a).  Probably ok to just buy the headstrap-only (if you like halo straps) right now imho.

Edit; here's a YT video regarding the bobo strap batteries.  Sorry if this is a bit off topic but I thought it may be useful for those planning to dump their Elite battery straps for one of these;

Also, my 2 week old Q3 Elite battery strap continues to work very well, touch wood, lol!

I've also just ran into this issue with my strap. Won't connect to headset and battery led seems to indicate it is full.  I've tried the KB solutions and they have not helped. I've only ever charged it with the provided charger that came with the headset.

The head strap no longer works for me. It's been dead since yesterday. It no longer loads 100% and on quest 3 it is only recognized for a few seconds. I won't wait much longer and if there is no solution, the strap will go back to Amazon.

The holding down the button on the strap for >12 sec did the trick for me so far!

You need to contact meta and get a replacement.  If it could be fixed with a patch, I'm almost certain it would have been done by now.

The fact they're not even asking for the busted units to be returned tells you everything you need to know.

Ya, I don't really know for sure but it seems to me like some Elite battery strap batteries are under-spec for the Q3.  Maybe some suppliers used older Q2 elite battery strap batteries.  Who knows?  Again, so far, after 2 weeks of pretty heavy use, mine seems to be working fine, touch wood, tapping my head, lol!

They asked for all the details, also the serial number of my elite strap,
I'm indeed hoping they are doing something with that information other than confirming that it's a legit request.
I honestly think so because they've asked me quite a lot of questions on how and when the issue occurred.
I won't post my SN on a public forum until I got my replacement in, but it seems to be all the same as yours up to the last 5 characters : 2V5SQ0B F7XXXXX

Why are you worried - essentially it's a broken battery with a USB cable attached to it that they don't want back?

I got sent my replacement strap yesterday and it immediately got recognised and held. I ran it down to zero and the headset battery took over, but so far so good. I’ll keep monitoring it and see how things go. I am meant to be sending my headset back to Meta with the dead pixel but glad to at least have better battery life for the time being. My new strap was also manufactured in 07/23 as was the faulty one. Let’s hope the firmware update release today helps to fix things for those still affected.

About the Quest 3 update.  Has anybody in the US  seen it?  I haven't.  I'm still on v57 that already has battery extender and auto update toggles in options.

Other places have seen say Quest 3 will skip v59 and go straight to v60 unlike the 2 and Pro.

Was there ever a v58?

No issues other than having to unplug and plug in every so often.

Maybe a hardware (certain batches) and software issue at the same time going on here.
