[Resolved] - Quest 3 Elite Strap with Battery only connects for a few seconds

Is anyone working on the Quest 3 elite battery issue? It charges but won’t connect to the headset for more than a few seconds, meaning you cannot charge through the back port.

The elite strap battery randomly disables when playing games or just using headset. So the headset starts using HMD battery instead of Elite strap batter. To fix this i have to manually disconnect the cable and reconnect it.

Then the headset detects the elite battery again.

The same issue started for me today. Sometimes when reconnecting it the battery connects then disconnects again right away. I'm considering returning/replacing it in case it's a factory defect.

Well, the problem with any Customer Service is, you can ask the same question 3 times, and you will get 4 different answers.

I ordered at Amazon in Germany and will

wait a little longer. Damaged Products can be send back over 24 month.

It's easier to return under 30 days. After that you need to use the warranty. And that's a little bit more complicated especially if you didn't buy it from their official store

Same issue here. Returned my first headsteap to BB when issue started and exchaned. New into was fine for a week then issue started again today.

I would not return for exchange. The issues happen on replaced units after some time, it sucks but best not to use it at all for now until it's sorted out.

Same issue. After draining and charging doesn't connect to headset. Did this intermittently at first for a couple days, and then completely failed.

Tested battery bank and it still charges the headset while in use and plugged directly to headset. But doesn't charge headset when plugged into elite strap.

Strap will charge my phone no problem, so juice seems to be coming out of the strap. Makes me think this is a software issue.

Tried a factory reset of headset. No luck.

Going to try independently fully charging strap and headset tonight. See what happens.

I haven't tried joining the PTC yet, but that's next step.

Arjuna-Lad Apparently PTC V59 doesn’t include the Q3. Might start with the next version (PTC V60?).

Indeed... Also from my understanding (I'm not 100% sure though) Q3 will have V60, and PTC is currently full 😞 so it'll be a while before we can check whether an update will fix it, and from what I have been told by support (see a few pages before), an update may be unlikely to fix it.

DundermiffPaper I agree about not expecting a replacement to work just yet. When I had asked that to staff they did say they are not sure if the replacement will fix the problem also.

I think for most of us it's best to return and wait for people who can pick it up the next version of the strap and do a 1 or 2 week post purchase review.

Other "straps with batteries" or even "extra power packs" also have issues (see another video linked earlier in the thread https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBE374fudxY ) except "maybe" the Zyber neck one (not guaranteed also), so anyone trying to get additional battery capacity needs to be aware that most solutions do not work right now.

It’ll be interesting to hear from those of you who are getting replacements directly from meta if the new headset isn’t exhibiting the same issues or not. My Amazon replacement lasted 3 days before going the same way as the first.
