I had this exact problem after charging it for a long time. I think the headset got confused about it's own battery level.

The fix was to disconnect it from the wall socket, then hold down the power button. It boot looped multiple times - showing the oculus logo, then the low battery, then turning off. Eventually, after boot-looping about 10 times, it started boot-looping like it normally would with full charge.

You will know when it's bootlooping "correctly" by looking at the reflection from the lenses. Normally there's a white glow, then it goes off after 3-4 seconds. When it's bootlooping "correctly" it will glow for about 8-9 seconds, then turn off. Alternatively, if you look through the headset itself, the oculus logo will be "pulsing", rather than static. When that happens, you can stop holding the power button, turn it on normally, and it should take you to the dashboard and be at 100% battery.

If this works for you, please comment and let me know, to make sure I didn't get a fluke.

Hello there, Allybugs. We see you're having trouble turning on your headset, but don't worry, we're here to help and will have you back up and running in no time. To answer your question, a solid red light indicates that your headset battery is dead. Please try the following to turn on your headset:

  • Try a different outlet
  • Try a different charger or charging cable

More information on the different lights can be found here. Please let us know if this is helps. We are excited to get you back in the game!

Same problem. solid red light. No power. Tried a couple of different chargers and cables that I know to be working (they successfully charge other devices). It's a relatively new Meta Quest 2. Only a few weeks old and <40 hours of use.

We appear to have found several rogue headsets that aren't charging. We're saddened to see that, and we hope to provide you with some information about the issue. Let's start by making sure the headset can turn on. If it seems like the headset is still unable to turn on even after 2 to 5 hours of charging, we can try a factory reset to make sure the headset can processes directives. If that doesn't help change what is going on with the headset, our next step would be to get you to our wonderful support website for some more extensive troubleshooting. You can find us by following this link, here.

In my case, when the headset is plugged to my PC and the battery dies then my pc keeps showing me unrecognized device alert forever and it does not charge at all. I have to change to another usb port to charge it.

Thanks for reaching out redline99 The link cable is not supposed to be used to completely charge the headset. It is made with the intention of transferring files and utilizing PCVR. So it will not charge the headset a sufficient amount. However, some of the fixes mentioned on the thread might work for you. So its a good idea to give them a try.

I have a different issue. Instead of a solid red light, my headset shows a flashing red light when I plug it in. After a few minutes, the light stops, and there are no lights at all. The headset is completely dead, cannot be turned on. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Hey there! We definitely want for you to be able to enjoy your time in VR, and that is hard to do if your headset won't charge! We would recommend trying the following troubleshooting steps to get things working:

  1. Attempt to charge the headset for 2 hours from a known working wall outlet. The headset must be left powered off or in a sleep state during this time.
  2. Try a different Cable/Charger; if possible, test the cable and charger (adapter) separately to determine the faulty component.
    • Make sure that the wall adapter can deliver an adequate amount of power for the device you have, 10W for a Quest 2, and 18W for a Quest 3
  3. Try charging the headset without the facial interface. Some facial interfaces may block the proximity sensor which can impact the power of the headset.
  4. If you are using the Elite Strap with Battery or any third-party accessories that may affect battery charging or consume power (such as external battery packs, external fans, etc.) remove these before charging.
  5. Hard Reboot the headset
    1. Hold down the power button and volume down button for 30 seconds until you hear the boot-up sound
    2. If the boot-up sound is not heard, enter the USB Update Mode and select "Boot Device"
  6. Go through a Factory Reset. Be aware that this will delete all installed apps, game progress, and user data from the device.

Hopefully these steps get your devices working once more! If you find yourself still running into issues, please feel free to reach out to us in a private message! Click on our profile, then "Send a Message."

IT DOESNT WORK I PAID FOR THIS BRO CMON AND NOW ITS RUINED

This may help those having issues.

If lipo batteries go below a certain charge state, the charge protection circuit will stop allowing the battery to be charged.

If you repeatedly apply power to the headset by plugging and unplugging the headset charger to the mains supply, this can push a small charge into battery before the charge protection circuit stops the power.

After a while it's possible to get the charge above the minimum charge state and charge protection circuit allows charging as normal.

So the blinking stoped what now ? There's no light on the headset anymore

Me and maxisacat have the same problem

Efcaptain7  are you getting any light indications when you are doing the battery recovery with the 'blip' charging? A light should come on for a second before the battery charging circuit stops the charging process.
