Question

[SOLVED] Cannot get past Allow Cookies screen with child account

I have created an account for my 10 years old child to use Meta Quest 3, but I cannot get past the page that requests me to confirm the use of cookies after I sign in.

I have tried logging in with the Meta Horizon app and Chrome browser in his tablet. I have tried with Firefox Mobile and Chrome in my phone. And have tried with Chrome in a laptop. The result is always the same: after signing in with email and password, i am taken to a page with title "Allow the use of cookies from Meta?". At the end of the page there is a button with label "Confirm". I press/click the button and nothing happens. I already tried pressing it many times, but nothing happens.

Is this a system bug or am I missing something?

Thanks in advance.

Hi there, I’m having the same problem here. Trying to add a third profile for my second child but it won’t let me, after clicking on the email invite it takes me to the cookies page and when I click confirm it doesn’t do anything! It is really frustrating….

I have the same problem. In the app (iOS), in Safari and on PC. I've also tried different iOS devices.

It seems like this issue is affecting multiple users across different devices and browsers. I have tried clearing the cache and cookies, reinstalling the app, and even using different networks, but nothing seems to work. This is quite frustrating as it prevents us from setting up the device for our children.

Additionally, I have already added my child as a family member in familycenter.meta.com before receiving the VR headset. It seems odd that I cannot easily add her, considering she is already linked to my account, and I have to send an invitation to her email.

Could you please provide a solution or a workaround for this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Meta will ignore you. They don't care.

I think they honestly just want us to let I children use adult accounts so they can collect more data, this to me is the only plausible explanation why support have gone deaf regarding this.

There are many users with the problem but no solution.

I first contacted meta nearly a month ago regarding this, they passed my case on to some sort of technical team who email every couple of days. Them emails have now dried up and I don't even get them anymore, just a automated one that says "we haven't heard from you, please respond to this email if you still need help" so I respond and get the same automated 2 days later.

I'm so glad I managed to try and setup this account before my child opening her Christmas day present to find she can't use it.

So fortunate for me, I have just returned the item for refund.

Did any of you get a solution to this, I'm having the same issue with the account for my 12 year old ?

Unfortunately not.

Sorry wish I could be more help.

I have returned the headset and have got a refund.

Support was awful and I was not getting anywhere close to getting a solution so my only solution was to return the headset to argos within 28 days for a refund.

Funny thing is argos were very helpful and I was told many people return products from meta saying there support is poor.

It's not the first time I've had a poor experience with there support either. I had a elite battery strap for my quest 2 that went faulty after 2 months. And I pretty much had the same thing, every few days I would get emails from support asking if I still had the issue, I would respond to get a email from a member almost instantly saying they are taking over the case and asking me to try the same troubleshoot every time, I would tell them it still does not work and my emails would go quite again until the automated email came again a few days later asking if I still needed assistance.

Lucky for me argos saved me again, I took the battery strap back, shown them all the emails of me trying to resolve it and they accepted to take it back even though they did not need to but because I had proof of meta support basically ignoring me they gave me a replacement product.

Oh and to top that situation off a few weeks later I had a email from them asking if I still had a problem with the battery strap. I told them how argos were kind enough to accept it back and that there support was shocking and the support member apologised and added £20 to my account. Bonus but could of done without the hassle to be honest

Hi, just want to say I’m also having the problem and I’m also in discussion with support. Hopefully they’ll get the idea they need to fix this!

Having the exact same issue. My son just got a Quest 3 for his 11th Birthday. I've created a parental account added him as child online but when I try add his account to the headset which then sends him a link to log in via the app he's unable to get past the accept cookies, tapping the button does nothing.

Just had an online support chat, the operative has escalated it to higher support who will get back to me in 3-5 days apparently.

Yes I went through the same thing. The email support took a while before they believed it was an actual problem, it was quite frustrating. Hopefully having more people emailing them might help.

I sent the link to this forum post in the chat so they could see others are having the same issue.

It is really frustrating to hear that there are a lot of people are facing this issue.
I have messaged Meta support and they suggested to hard boot the headset which I did and I’m still facing the same issue where I can’t bypass the cookies page! Tried to clear cookie and caches etc and still the same! 🤦🏻‍:male_sign:

Yes I also found they kept suggesting generic solutions like hard reset, clearing cache, different browser etc. That made me feel like they weren’t taking it seriously. However I do think they’ve acknowledged the problem now.

Received a further email overnight from "Meta Store Support's specialized team" so it does look like they're looking at the issue.
