Question

[SOLVED] Cannot get past Allow Cookies screen with child account

I have created an account for my 10 years old child to use Meta Quest 3, but I cannot get past the page that requests me to confirm the use of cookies after I sign in.

I have tried logging in with the Meta Horizon app and Chrome browser in his tablet. I have tried with Firefox Mobile and Chrome in my phone. And have tried with Chrome in a laptop. The result is always the same: after signing in with email and password, i am taken to a page with title "Allow the use of cookies from Meta?". At the end of the page there is a button with label "Confirm". I press/click the button and nothing happens. I already tried pressing it many times, but nothing happens.

Is this a system bug or am I missing something?

Thanks in advance.

Have you logged it with Meta?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share an update regarding the issue with adding a child account to the Meta Quest 3. Like many of you, I encountered the same problem where the "Confirm" button on the "Allow the use of cookies from Meta?" page did nothing. Here's what I did:

  1. Browsers and Modes Tried:

    • Edge (InPrivate/Incognito mode) on PC: Same result, no errors given.

    • Firefox (on PC): Success 🎉 after sending a new link because the previous one expired after 15 minutes.

  2. Technical Details:

    • Used the Network console in Developer tools in Edge and downloaded a .har file.

    • Found the following error in the file:

      {
        "errors": [{
          "message": "A server error field_exception occurred. Check server logs for details.",
          "severity": "CRITICAL",
          "code": 1675030,
          "summary": "Query Error",
          "description": "Error performing query."
        }]
      }

  3. Solution:

    • After trying Firefox on PC with a new link, I was able to successfully set up my daughter's account on the Quest 3 🎉.

I hope this helps others who are facing the same issue. If you have any other tips or solutions, please share them here. Good luck!

That's great! Unfortunately, I just downloaded Firefox and copy/pasted the link in there. I had exactly the same result with the confirm button not working.
Any ideas on what might be different?

Bummer – sorry to hear that. My Firefox is version 130.0.1 (64-bit), and the only extension installed is a password manager, so pretty much untouched, like yours.

The only difference that I can think of since the very first time I tried to connect the account, is that I purchased a game in the Quest store today.

Also, I rage-clicked the "Confirm"-button (in Edge) like a madman (╯‵□′)╯︵┻━┻

I there a solution to this issue yet, it is driving me mad, I can't click on the button on either the Meta Horizon app or the Headset, don't understand how this was tested.

Same situation here. Changing between browsers (Mozilla Firefox > Vivaldi > Google Chrome > Microsoft Edge) and switching between Private Window/Incognito Window/InPrivate Tab did not help either.

I strongly believe we are facing a real issue with kids account.

Same issue here. Tried any browser the planet. I got past the first hurdle by using the parents account. But then, when switching to the kids account on the quest, it requests me to enter a confirmation code on meta.com/device. Here I have two issues: with the parents account & then selecting the kids account, I get the message, that the account is already on the device. If I use the kids login directly, I not get past the cookie confirmation dialog. I feel like sending the quest back. )-:

I have done a long online chat with Meta support and it took some time and effort for them to understand the problem (have you tried resetting the headset being the default goto response 🙄).  The chap I was chatting with has taken a bunch of details and screenshots of the problem and claims they will escalate it to the relevant team.  I also linked them this chat thread and a similar one on reddit so hopefully this might get resolved.  If not, I guess the answer for now is to delete the child's account from the family centre and start again but this time saying they are 13.  Not ideal, but the teen account still has parental controls so better than nothing.  If the issue ever gets fixed, I'm sure the account age could be changed back to their correct age.

I'm having exactly the same problem and have just had a long chat with support. Like others, they've referred it to a "specialist team" - absolutely crazy. Tried pc Firefox, chrome, Edge, app and also phone browser, none worked.

I have now had an email from Meta Support asking me to try the usual things like trying various devices / browsers / networks etc and report back to them.  I've now replied and supplied them with a lot of screenshots / recordings for them to see the issue for themself. Problem is that the issue spans for above a general Quest issue, it is something broken in the coding of the website somewhere.  Hopefully they can escalate the issue to the right team - assuming they even give a 💩 that is.  I'll post back when I hear anything.

It’s worrying that support are still taking people down this route when they’ve known about the problem for a few weeks. I keep sending them emails but I’m now just getting boilerplate replies asking me to be patient. I don’t have a lot of confidence that they’re trying to fix this with any urgency and they won’t give me a time estimate.

I’ve now had a response from meta saying they want screenshots from the quest headset so I’ve had to explain that this isn’t relevant as the issue isn’t the headset. I told them I’ve sent all relevant screenshots via WhatsApp chat and that all this info should have been passed on.

I have now gone a step further and changed the password on the 10-12 year old kids account to a temp password and just supplied Meta Support with the temp login details and told them to attempt to login to any Meta page so they can see for themself what the issue is.  I'm waiting to hear back.

Still no update other than 2 automated emails from Meta asking if they can close this ticket.  Looks like it's been swept under the carpet and they don't give a 💩.

I have come across a possible solution on Reddit from a user called stolsvik75 and they suggest the following:

  1. Clear all cookies for meta.com using Inspector, or a "clear cookies" plugin, or use different browser. Can probably use incognito too.

  2. Now go to meta.com and log in as yourself (if you don't clear cookies or similar, you'll just be thrown into the accept-cookies-loop). I logged in "using Facebook", which was absurd, because it just threw me into Facebook, so I had to manually enter the url meta.com

  3. Once this worked fine, I manually entered the url meta.com/device

  4. This now gave me an option of just choosing which user I wanted to add as - i.e. I was past the dreaded "accept cookies" forever-loop!

  5. I chose the account for my son, and then finally got to enter that code that the headset shows, ala "CX34-3FGJ".

I have tried this myself but could not see the code appear in my headset but worth others giving it a go and see how you get on.
