Question

[SOLVED] Cannot get past Allow Cookies screen with child account

I have created an account for my 10 years old child to use Meta Quest 3, but I cannot get past the page that requests me to confirm the use of cookies after I sign in.

I have tried logging in with the Meta Horizon app and Chrome browser in his tablet. I have tried with Firefox Mobile and Chrome in my phone. And have tried with Chrome in a laptop. The result is always the same: after signing in with email and password, i am taken to a page with title "Allow the use of cookies from Meta?". At the end of the page there is a button with label "Confirm". I press/click the button and nothing happens. I already tried pressing it many times, but nothing happens.

Is this a system bug or am I missing something?

Thanks in advance.

never.north Thanks for the tip.
In my case it was something similar.

I setup the VR using my meta account and when I added the child profile I was having the same issue.
I followed your advice:

1. initiate the process of adding new child profile on the VR

2. create the account for the child (10 - 12 years)

3. log in web browser meta account of the parent (mine)

4. open a new tab and paste the link received on the child email account used for account creation at step 2
5. I was able to pass the step that was failing previously.

6. Profile was added to VR

Anonymous  Looks like your suggestion works!!!  The one I found on Reddit didn't actually work for me but I thought I'd share as it might work for others however I followed your steps (3 onward anyway) and it worked and kids profile is now on the headset.  πŸŽ‰.

On another note, someone new from Meta has replied to my query and they want to start from scratch so I guess when they get stuck they just pass it onto someone else who probably can't help either.

None of the workarounds posted here work for me. I tried to add my son's account to the device from the family centre on a PC browser but it asks for the code shown on the device and ours is a 5-digit number, but the browser appears to need an 8-digit or letter code. I've been chatting with with Meta support and was told the "specialized support team are actively working on this issue". Not good enough. They've known about this for weeks now. I told them they need to pull their finger out or they are going to be deluged with enquiries after Christmas.

When I used the workaround to get past the allow cookies screen, I didn’t need to do any more codes. I did see a code pop up in the headset, but after taking the headset off and on it disappeared and worked fine.

I was able to finally create a profile for my son.

Meta Store Support contacted me asking to try again and I was able to login to meta.com/devices, as per instructions in the VR headset, then logged in with my own account.

After logging in, I was asked which account to use: mine or my kid. I chose my kid's and it went through.

Meta have apparently fixed the issue. They sent me this

β€œThank you for your patience. We are pleased to inform you that the fix for the issue has been rolled out. Could you please check if you are still experiencing the same problem?”

The work around worked for me though, so I’ve not tested it.
