Same. Isn’t it funny that this happened yesterday and they came out with these new  meta quest thingy fml

It's not really a coincidence when it's been happening for some people for a long time! It's unlikely related to the new headset. Are we going to add conspiracy theories to the mix? I'll be honest though, it certainly has happened more since all the aliens in their UAP's started flying around. Maybe that's the connection. 😁

OK, I was being dramatic πŸ˜‚

but I actually fixed my Quest 2.

If you're stuck on the Meta logo

then getting a black screen,

this is what worked for me.

I had already factory reset it

and nothing fixed the problem.

In USB Update Mode, I worked

with both Slot A and Slot B.

I ran the graphics test on

Slot A.

It initially gave me an error.

I ran it again and it appeared

to install/apply something.

I then repeated that process

on Slot B.

Afterward, I booted Slot A and

left the headset alone even

though the display was black.

Eventually I started hearing

normal Quest startup sounds.

I also briefly started seeing

parts of the normal interface.

I then switched back to Slot B

and booted again.

This time I eventually got

passthrough and the normal

Quest setup process.

IMPORTANT:

I also connected the headset

to the Meta Horizon phone app

while it was in this state.

The app successfully recognized

and connected to the headset.

After that I was able to get

through controller pairing,

Wi-Fi setup, and finally the

official software update.

I don't know which individual

step actually repaired it.

My best guess is that working

with both A/B slots and letting

the headset complete whatever

update/recovery process was

pending finally got it through

the broken boot state.

I'm posting this because Meta

Support told me they had no

compatible recovery software

for my SPL and offered me a

$159.99 refurbished replacement.

Obviously, do this at your own

risk.

I'm only documenting exactly

what worked on my Quest 2.

Not true.

You can contact Meta regardless of whether a device is connected to your account or not.

Reach out to Meta support via email, chat or WhatsApp HERE

Open the link in an incognito window, otherwise the support options won't be displayed.

stuck on blackscreen after update

Your black screen might be a hardware problem, that it occurred after an update might be - I don't say it is - a coincidence

You can try if a hairdryer(no heat) - like shown in the video can help.

It's also possible, that the proximity sensor went bad or a cable came lose.

A repair service like Fix my Oculus - if you are in the US - can repair that.

If you are located somewhere else, google for a VR headset repair service in your country.
