I'm on version PTC

208.0.0.47.535 (208.0.0.47.535).

I was on prior non PTC version.

The Link System Tray icon is gone. App doesn't quit to tray anymore.

How do I get it back?

Im also having the same issue as you having as well but im on the Normal Version not the PTC one and when i look at task manager for me it saying the OVR Server thing has Dev build in it and it never had that before and that task Runs even when i close out the Horzion Link as well i though at first it was my windows so i did fresh install and it did the EXACT same thing as well

Sorry just to clarify my own post: I had the issue both before and after moving to the PTC version. I moved to PTC to see if it got it back. It didn't.

Yeah i just started having this problem with the last update. If they were already doing it with the PTC then likely either a deliberate change or a bug that made it through. Either way it's highly annoying.

I've also seen this issue since the latest V2.7 updates (Q3/QPro headsets and meta link pc app).  I believe that Meta needs to enable this again (it was enabled a few updates ago).  I have filed a bug report, and so should you.  Cheers.

Aside.  This Doesn't seem to cause any problems, for me anyway.  Closing the meta link pc app window shuts the app down ok.  When it was on the system tray I needed to select it to turn it off.

Strange. I tested Link earlier yesterday, and the tray icon was working. Then I read this thread an hour later and opened Link again... and the tray icon has now vanished 😬. You guys have jinxed me!!! πŸ™ƒ I'm on v207.0.0.133.434.

As I have not had any Link updates in the past 9 days, I suspect this is either caused by a server-side switch or a recent Windows update. I did have a couple of Windows updates yesterday.

That’s a point I raised elsewhere as I too had a recent windows 11 update. The one that lets you move the taskbar to the sides or top. Link hadn’t seem to update.
It’s odd that an update would change one apps system tray feature but who knows how it was coded.

Same thing here. You can't minimize to tray and closing actually closes. Very inconvenient.

Blackbird88  While you cannot minimize to the system tray, you can minimize it to your windows taskbar.  You can now also properly close the meta pc app now.  Before, you needed to exit it by right clicking on the system tray icon and selecting exit.  So, for now, I don't see any disadvantage of having it no longer reporting to my system tray.

I think this is really about preference and how you have your system set up. I do not combine icons and I use labels in my taskbar.

Much like Steam doesn't need to be "open" and taking up taskbar real estate when you run a game through Steam, I don't need the Meta Horizon Link open on my taskbar.

I have viewed Meta Link as sort of an always running background app, much like my app for GPU overclocking, Corsair Icue for my keyboard and lighting, etc. and a number of other utilities. Including Steam.  I don't need those open taskbar, unlike a Word document or browser tabs.

Whether it's an advantage of disadvantage - something is up as the move to have Meta Link to the tray was intentional (and documented by Meta), but this change hasn't been and I don't think was intentional.

Maybe there will have a setting that lets you decide in the future.

Well i am doing some digging and it looks like they put us on a Dev build by mistake since everything that i found has Dev Build Right next to the Name in the Task and that was never there before this only happens when not on the PTC and it looks like it may of broke somethings for both Relase and PTC Versions
