Question

Time limits and shared parental control

Hi,

I'm having issues with my son's VR, I've set time limits and the initial time set (1 hour a day) works fine, he gets the notification and then it shuts down as expected after 1 hour. He has just requested to have extra time so he was allowed another 30 mins. I set it to 1 hour 30 and within 1 minute it says his time is up and I check the app and it says the usage was 1 hour 30 mins. This is not the case, tried again with 2 hours and it said times up after less than a minute again. What do I do? Surely it's better to develop a system that bonuses can be added? Playstation allows this much easier, Xbox too but as always Meta do things the hard way...

Also, why can't 2 parents be allowed to manage it? I travel with work so when my son is with his mum for her half of the week I get constant calls and messages asking to approve something, allow another thing and often I can't do it for hours or days. It's crazy that only one parent can allow things. I can't even give her access to log in to the app with my credentials because that would be giving her my Facebook account!

This is hands down the worst developed system I've ever used, it clearly none of the development team have kids or use these features because it never works as it should and every new change introduces new problems

Maybe just use your Xbox and Playstation. 🀷

I don't have an Xbox but I know it's much easier. Nothing about the parental control has been simple or logical. From the moment they implemented it it's been terrible and support is shocking but that's the same with any big tech company, take your money and leave you to sort things out yourself

    Hi Triggsy πŸ™‚

I can't even give her access to log in to the app with my credentials because that would be giving her my Facebook account!

You can give her access to the Horizon app without giving her access to your Facebook account if you unlink your Meta account from your Facebook account. Having them separated is better anyways.

Maybe changing to his mum as guardian is an option?

I have no experience with child accounts, so I don't know what going wrong  when you  changed the time limit.

    Hi,

Thanks I'll take a look into unlinking my account, I seem to recall when I set it up I had to use a Facebook account. I don't use social media so I'm clueless with things regarding it, I only have an account for marketplace 🀣

    Thanks for the reply,
