Tracking Issues

Hey all, my son as a quest 3 that keeps looping from clouds, to live, to black. When on clouds or black nothing can be selected etc. I found that it could be dirty cameras etc, which I cleaned, and then found that deleting the boundaries can help as it’s a tracking issue. After dealing with only being able to get through screens very slowly due to looping through the screens, I am able to click on the meta button on the right controller to get to the Home Screen. It’s pops up that it’s having difficulty tracking and to continue or turn it to moving mode. I have tried both options to attempt to clear out the boundaries, but it loops and pops up the tracking warning again. It’s a constant loop. I tried updating, resetting, power cycle, factory reset and nothing resolves the issue. I have only had the unit for a couple of years and the first year it wasn’t used. I find it crazy that there is no way to swipe the programming and reinstall. Had anyone else experienced this and found a resolution? Please help!

    HI HandyHomos 🙂

I found that it could be dirty cameras etc, which I cleaned

Yep, but it can also mean a camera is broken or not properly conected anymore.

It can also mean, sweat/moisture found its way into the headset, this happens pretty often to people doing workouts or kids playing Gorilla tag or something like that.

If moisture is the problem,  you can try, if using a hairdryer(no heat) - like shown in the video -helps.

I find it crazy that there is no way to swipe the programming and reinstall.

If it is a hardware issue, this won't help at all.

In that case you must look for a repair service like Fix my Oculus - if you are in the US - or google for a vr headset repair service in your country.
