Question

v74: Quest 3 not fully charging

My Quest 3 auto-updated to V74 Build 5070966.11190.510 (PTC) on the 31st and it won't charge past 73-74%. At that percentage, the orange charging light starts to flash. This one time I woke up to the quest turned on and in the factory reset menu by itself (the one you get from holding Power + Vol down), with it overheating.

In the settings, there are no updates but whenever I restart or shut down the quest, each time it says wait while the Quest is updating for maybe 2s, which is unusual.

Things I've already tried:

1. Soft/hard reboot.

2. Different cables/chargers.

3. Unpairing and repairing the controllers (as suggested by chat support)

4. Turning off the Quest and then charging it but the same issue persists

Ugh finally found a page that describes my exact issue!! Meta have done it again, released an update that screwed my headset. I will never buy anything from Meta again! I have now factory reset my device at least six times since I bought it, entirely due to corrupted updates. This update v81(?) completely screwed my controllers, making it impossible to even power down the device, caused my headset to not charge past 74% and to become so hot that it was a fire hazard! I am beyond sick of these people and their antics.

Meta wonders why their VR plans are a complete failure? Because you cannot even be bothered to release functional firmware on your own devices! I would understand this issue on desktop, where we all have different components and drivers - but this is Meta's device.

I think... The dream of Meta and Vr is maybe over! The biggest crap was the "metaverse". They should pump that money completly in the hardware.

Just discovered this afternoon, the Meta Horizons app (used to sideload) has completely corrupted my camera software on my Win10 laptop, costing me money because I could not work today, until I fixed it. I had to delete the Meta app, all my logitech software and green screen program and then re-build.

Removing Horizons resulted in my HD audio drivers being corrupted too. Fantastic experience.

I guess I should have expected it really... I won't be reinstalling it again.
