Deleting photos and videos persisting on the mobile app

How do I delete photos? There's no trash icon or ... menu to select.

You now have the option to unsync photos from your phone app!

Thanks to the latest update on the phone app, you can easily open your gallery, browse through your pictures and videos, and delete them directly from the cloud using a convenient delete from cloud button.

If you're still unable to delete your media, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the phone app completely or check if your phone is up to date.

My android app version. Maybe there is a a way to force an update or they just rolled it out for android and not iOS?

Mine is up to date and still can't delete photos that were synced and deleted from the metaquest without choosing delete from synced folder. Try delete that photo from metaquest only then return to the app

I can't find that file on the headset. Neither in the photo app, nor in the file browser, it's only on my mobile app.

Same problem, there is no delete button in the video list, video selection or within the video.

Device: iPhone 14 Pro
iOS: 17.1.1
Meta Quest App: 240.0

Hey everyone! As of right now, the best recommendation I can make for this would be to put in a bug report and then add your +1 to this idea post here. This way the engineers can look at the feature to potentially have available in future releases.

This should not be a feature request, it's a fundamental function that should be available by law under the consumer data act in Australia.

Now here's an idea: discourage duplication of bug reports and work with your team to have the issue fixed.

Just to clarify .. Your recent pics or Vids show on the app are not on your phone or headset, They are on Meta's Cloud Server .. You can delete or search all you like but you will not get anywhere. There is no way to remove them.

Its Meta's responsibility and probably a legal requirement to add a function to be able to remove them from the Mobile App at least if not their server as well.

I am telling people not to purchase the mediquest three due to the fact that you cannot delete cloud Images .They are invading your privacy by hoarding these images. The fact that they do not have a delete option makes me wonder what they're doing with all these images or information ,The only thing we can do is warn people not to purchase this Device

Is there a final resolution to deleting unwanted media from the Quest Meta App (I deleted from Quest 3 device not Deleted and unsync, which was a BIG mistake on my part) on a mobile device? K~

Not to my knowledge .. I un-synced totally and just waited the 14 \ 15 days for my stuff to be auto removed from their server. Until its sorted i wont be syncing again.

So if that's the only solution and everyone has to do it then I'm not so sure its a win for Meta.

Did not work for me. Data is unsynched and still available in the cloud since November. Meta is clearly not interested in this topic.

The only thing I can suggest for everybody is do what I am doing, I am going to every gaming web forum out there and anybody that sells the meda quest 3 and warning them not to purchase a unit due to the fact that you cannot delete screenshots, pictures, downloads ,Etc from their cloud servers but you can delete it from the headset. This is in my opinion very wrong and they deserve what they get. But overall I love the unit, Google at least allows you to remove stuff from their servers after all it is yours and it's meant for backup not for them to hoard your information and who knows what they're doing with it, I would assume probably selling it to China LOL

You cannot delete them. once they're there it's permanent. That's the way they have it set up, you can only delete it off the headset. They do not obviously care enough to add a delete button for your privacy. The best thing you can do is recommend to others not to purchase a unit, until they fix this. Go to Every gaming forum and every place it sells The Meta Quest, meta quest 2 or meta quest 3 and post bad reviews about the unit and what they're doing. " tell people it's full of bugs, its not reliable. it's not a lie"
