Known Issue - Meta Device Code Not Working

Everytime I have tried to add another accounts onto my quest 2 the device code on meta.com/device says "Invalid Device Code Request! Please try again!" I have factory reset my headset and done all troubleshooting methods.

EDIT:

Hey hey guys! Just reaching back out here to say there is something for us to give a shot. Could you please try the following:

  1. Double check that you're trying to set up your device with the same account that you're logged into on your app by going to https://secure.oculus.com/my/devices/
  2. You can go to auth.meta.com/settings on your mobile or desktop app and log out if you're on the wrong account
  3. Next, you can either log in with the correct account or you can also start over using different login info by factory resetting their headset. (This will wipe all data from the headset but not erase purchases from your account, so you will be able to redownload purchased apps upon completing setup.)

If this doesn't seem to help, please don't hesitate to create a support ticket with our team for some further options!

Genesis does what Nintendon't! Send me a DM if you have questions. I'm happy to help!

No solution yet and so many people have the problem. Can their be an update on where we are? Support for Oculus 2 is a joke!

I finally got it to add another account. And on Meta.com it says it is connected to headset. However in the app, it just says pairing and never pairs so I cant cast to my phone. The support is just the worst I have ever experienced for a technology item.

After a few days of work I decided to start my VR goggles once again, and to my surprise it worked just fine now! My code got accepted right away and I did not get the error code message. Finally I can get back to smashin' zombies again 😉

Same issue here with adding a second account. We have the same issue on both our old quest 2 headset and the new one we just bought. Hard to believe there has not been a solution for this yet. I sent a message to support as well as open the ticket, so we will see if they help.

***Figured it out***

If you are adding an additional user and are getting the an error occurred it’s likely you don’t have your patter password set up YOU HAVE TO HAVE A PATTERN

Also having the same problem. My son is the owner of the Oculus, but it’s linked to my Facebook account. All we want is to separate into two accounts so that he doesn’t have to “be me” and vice versa. Currently he can read my FB messenger chats. No thanks. This is ridiculous and when I try to start a support ticket, none of the options are what I need.

Hey there milkydud! We understand how setting up your accounts can be a bit tricky. No worries, we can definitely take a look into this. We went ahead and provided some troubleshooting steps below to add another account onto your device:

  • Make sure you are on the admin account.
  • If you would like to change the primary account, you would have to factory reset your headset.
  • To add a secondary account:
    • Press the Oculus button on your right Touch controller to pull up your universal menu
    • Hover over the clock on the left-hand side of the universal menu. When Quick settings appears, select it to open the Quick settings panel
    • Select Settings in the top-right corner, then select Accounts
    • Select Add account in the top-right corner
      • If you don't already have an unlock pattern set up for your headset, you will be asked to create one before adding additional accounts to your device
    • Select Continue, then hand the headset to the other person to add their account to your headset. They will be guided through the initial setup, including logging in to Facebook, adjusting headset fit and setting up Guardian.

Let us know if this worked for you. If you have any additional questions, we will be happy to answer them.

Hi, before we do this, will my son lose years of progress if we do a factory reset?

I’m having the same issue. I own two devices and have my admin account logged into each of them. I’m trying to create additional accounts for my kids but cannot get past the 8 digit code step. A solution would be great

Did you get it fixed?  Mine is doing the exact same thing and I’ve tried everything you listed. I’m frustrated because I want my kids to have their own account.

We are waiting to see if a factory reset will cause him to lose progress. If so it’s an unacceptable solution.

So I've just performed a factory reset in an attempt to resolve the 'add account' issue.  Sad to say that not only has this NOT fixed the problem but also I've LOST all my progress. Difficult to understand why in 2022 developers are still backing up game play, etc locally.

For information I use my Facebook account to log into my Oculus Quest 2.

I got it to work eventually, but it took me lots of attempts.

No workaround worked for me. I was just trying from time to time, and finally, I got through. Based on previous responses, this issue seems to be pretty random, and you cannot do much about it but try again and again. Annoying.

Who’s ever in charge of accounts and how to add, log in, need meta still using Facebook log I. With oculus make sure your on the right account go to /step up log out with pie root squared switch to Facebook while on your Instagram account back to /device with the cubed root quadratic formula sign in and that’s it you should be done! If it says “CONGRATS! You did it!” and then instantly says “Oopsie! something went wrong try again“ simply reboot your modem, update your phone and our tablet, erase any login information, toss some salt over your right shoulder wink 3x’s and start anew!

should be fired … I got a Yahoo email in the 90’s and it took less than a minute.  The whole process ruins the entire experience, makes you want to set the thing down and never touch it again. It’s like someone asked you to make a bowl of cereal and you came back with some lucky charms on a plate that you burned over the campfire. Seriously how did you take the easiest, most common task that every person on earth has literally done 100x’s and make it almost impossible to complete?

just think of where this platform would be if you could just get out of your own way and let people enjoy their purchase … SAD
