Known Issue - V65 - V67 USB-C Debris/Water Warning

Not a solution - Marking for visibility

Known Issue

Hello everyone!

I have observed that a significant number of users are still encountering the USB-Debris error even after the V64 fix was distributed to everyone. Consequently, I have taken the initiative to inform the team and create this fresh post in order to distinguish between those who faced the issue in the previous post and those who are currently experiencing it on V65-V67.

We would greatly appreciate if everyone could please provide the following information:

  1. What's the full version number of your headset? (62.0.0.####### or likewise)
    • Quick Settings > System > Software Update
  2. What's the full version number of your PC app? (62.0.0.####### or likewise)
    • General > Scroll down to the bottom of the page.
  3. Is your PC app on PTC?
  4. Are you enrolled in Quest PTC?
  5. Any potential workarounds?
  6. Which headset is everyone using? Is this only happening with the Quest 3 currently, or is anyone experiencing the same thing on their Quest 2 and Pro

I'll do my best to keep you all updated as soon as I find out anymore information!

Please do NOT send your serial number in this or any thread publicly.

Update 7/3/24

Thanks to all who sent in their Serial numbers. Our engineers are still looking into this matter and are working hard to resolve it in an future software update.

I'm on the latest version (v68) and am encountering this issue when my INIU link cable is powered at the socket so it is charging the headset as I use Link mode for PCVR.

If I turn off the power socket so the cable only acts as a USB link, the issue does not appear.

Please can someone help?

As I suggested above - try a more powerful charger than the included Oculus one. Completely fixed my issue.

Hi everyone,
here is my example of how I accidentally fixed the slow charging bug of quest 3.
Since it was charging slowly, I didn't even use it until yesterday when it was completely dead. I put it on the charger and it was fully charged in about 2 hours. Turned it on and everything worked so I used it until the battery was half empty and then put it on the charger and it started charging normally without any USB is disabled message...
Try it, it might help.

Great initiative to tackle the USB-Debris error issue! Just like you wouldn’t ignore a problem with your McDonald's menu order, it's important to provide detailed information so the engineers can resolve this efficiently. Keep sharing your updates and serial numbers—every bit of data helps improve the situation!

Currently on V68 and having major issues with this bug.

After the update it's almost impossible to get my Quest Pro to connect to the PC via link cable.

Even if I disconnect at the computer but still connected to the headset, it throws errors.

1/10 times I might get lucky and get connection establised.

Yes, I did report after every version update after confirming that I ran into the same issues.

Sadly Meta does not support Estonia in returning device straight to Meta. But today I requested an RMA from the online store it was bought from. Hopefully everything goes smoothly.

Thought my experience so far has been far from it...
