Oculus Link Sync Issue with Quest 3: Video lag behind head movement

I've found a bug with the Oculus Link software using the official link cable and Quest 3.

Every time I try to play some relatively demanding PCVR titles or enter some heavy worlds in VRChat, after the computer stutters for a few seconds for loading, the headset tracking and the streamed video feed go completely out of sync.

The frame rate in the demanding scene after loading is high and smooth, but the video feed in the headset is a bit delayed relative to my head movement, resulting in an extremely nauseous experience. Even after I quit the demanding game and returned to Oculus Dash, the problem remains, and the video feed is still delayed.

This bug can be reproduced consistently. Reconnecting the Oculus link briefly eliminates the problem, but the delay happens again when I try to load scenes. This makes the Oculus link unusable.

Any solutions?

Hey guys! I just wanted to check in on this thread and see how everyone was doing. I also wanted to say thank you DJTaranis  for letting us know you got it working for a bit before it stopped working again.

I also wanted to let you all know that the v62 update should start to gradually roll out on the 7th, and there are supposed to be a lot of updates for PCVR. If you're still having trouble with video lag in your Quest 3 headset, I recommend sending a private message to our MetaStoreHelp page so that this can be looked into further.

Exactly the same issue in 2024. Meta quest3 link cable. Running racing or any other game for that matter. running smooth for a while. then major drop in frame rate and a rubber string kind of effect with image lagging behind in movement, using a Nvidia RTX3070 GPU. I have tried every possible settings in the meta quest link software to change hz and resolution without any luck.

This issue had been bugging me for so long and I've found the fix (at least for me). Open your Oculus debug tool (Located in \Oculus\Support\oculus-diagnostics) and copy the settings below (resolution is up to you it's just whatever your PC can handle. Now the issue should be resolved or at least very VERY hard to trigger. if it still happens but is happening less then simply double tap the headset to enter passthrough and double tap it again to go back to link, that usually reverts it to normal. Hope I've Helped.

Guys, try using Steamlink instead of Meta's Airlink if you are wireless. It seems it solved the issue for me.

Yes, it solves the problem (with VD too) but except for this issue, I have the best experience connection with Meta Quest Link, best image quality and best stability (except when it break)

Are you talking about that desync lag? Because I had the same lag regularly in Hellsweeper VR when I started the game. I had to press on/off on headset few times to make it work and sometimes it went bad randomly. Yesterday I tried Steamlink because of other issue and accidentally found out I had no desync lag with it in the same game.

EDIT: Sorry, I misread you. Well, I didn't like VD too, but Steamlink seems to be really good now. It definitely feels faster and I had no issues with it in comparisson with Airlink. Give it a try, maybe you will like it. It's free anyway

I'm encountering this issue still, does anybody have a fix? I use the link cable. This happens to me in iRacing. I can't reproduce it consistently, but I always know when it's about to happen. I get a unusual stutter, and maybe 20 seconds later my headset goes black and the tracking lag begins. On my PC, the game is rendering just fine as usual, but my tracking lag stays until I restart link.

I think its just a problem of weaker gpus, maybe vram. I had rtx 3070 8gb, had this problem regularly. Recently upgraded to 4090 and haven't encountered it anymore. I would like to know, if people with 16gb of vram are also getting this lag.

Yes. I can also say i haven't had this issue since i upgraded GPU

Did you guys also upgrade CPU? I have a 3080 10GB and a i7-11700k and if I can just get away with a GPU upgrade I might try it, otherwise I might just stick it out until the next generation.

I did. From i9 11900 to ryzen 7 7700. Not a big upgrade, I don't think it matters. Gpu was the biggest leap for me.
