Oculus Rift controllers not working in-game after update

6/11/2024, allowed Meta Link to update on my PC for my Rift CV1.  Everything still works until I get into a game.  Once I enter the game, the Touch controllers are not detected when moving, and in the game they are at ground level and will not move.  The Oculus button still worked, and I could use the controllers to select quit app, but they will not move while in a game.  So far I re-installed Oculus, but did not delete all the hidden files.  I updated my Nvidea drivers to the latest 555.xx version.

Hey guys! Sorry for the delay in getting back with you. I've been working with the engineering teams trying to get a solution for this issue. HOWEVER, I do want to let you know I've been passing as much information as I can to the them, as well as the workaround that was provided by @8aron. If your issue has been resolved with their method, I advise other users to try this as well. If you're worried about having to do it for every update, I confirmed with the teams, and they told me you can turn off automatic updates for your Rift device. All you need to do is follow the steps below:

  • Go to Settings > Developer > Allow Automatic Meta Quest Link Software Updates > Toggle Off.

After doing this and following the workaround, you shouldn't have to worry about your headset needing to be updated.

I've also been asking teams for an official solution from them regarding this issue. I'm not sure when they will be able to get back to me with additional progress updates. Since there is only so much information that I can relay from here on the forums to them. I strongly recommend continuing to submit bug reports and be as detailed as possible with the reports. Even if you think the information that you provide for them might not mean much, any detail that they're given can be of great help to them. I hope this information helps!

At some point my in-game virtual hands for my Rift CV1's controllers got offset into a fixed position off to my right, then some time later after I placed controllers onto the ground and re-put on my headset the virtual hands got stuck into the ground.  Then when I tried re-running the Rift setup on OculusDash.exe / Meta Quest Link, when it got to the controllers part there was no feedback or connection with the controllers at all anymore.  Joining the beta's Public Test Channel seemed to have fixed the problem.

Hey Fishy_LMXIV

There isn't any option to enable Developer mode unless you have created or have a Developer account.

You can find more information about the Developer mode and how to set up a Developer account here.

To enable Developer mode you must belong to (or have created) a Developer organization on the Meta Quest Developer Dashboard

Hope this helps. πŸ’

Okay, thank you.

I guess it helps in the sense I can stop looking for a way to activate the 'solution' provided by The_1st_Dark_Lord_Morgoth, but doesn't help in the sense that I'll still have to reapply the application downgrade every day!

Cheers.

It really isn't ideal that you are having to reapply the application downgrade everyday, what I'd like to suggest is if you could send us a bug report and ideally please be as descriptive as possible.

Our engineering team have been notified of this issue and are working to solve and find a resolution to it.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this process and if you have any other issues or questions, please do contact our support team here

Hope this helps! πŸ’

I just tested the Rift CV1 in several games, and I received a few updates last week, so I should be using the latest and unmodified software.

My Rift CV1 is working flawlessly, no issues in Unity nor UE games.

I'd recommed not using the work-around decribed in this thread, because Meta fixed the issue many months ago.

I'm using Win10.

Are you using the latest Meta software without any modifications?

As said, my Rift CV1 works flawlessly using the latest Meta software with no modifications. But using Win10.

You did not mention your gpu.

I'm using the v. 71 version.

Not working again after meta quest link update. Tried the work around again to no success. Uninstalled it all and reinstalled fresh meta. tried that without work around. No haptics. So unbelievably frustrating to buy a product they try to make obsolete.

My Oculus Headset also having this problem. I alway airlink into the Oculus Link/Meta Quest Link app just to get a smooth gameplay with any game I play. But now after the update every game I enter just lost track. Blade and Sorcery. Light Brigade. Etc etc.

What I got confused about is if you set your controller to the table just to idle. It regain its track back. Moving only one controller work fine until you try to gain control on both hand. It instantly lose track.

From what I think about it. If you left the controller to idle. The Meta Hand became a controller but when picking up it became a hand again. I think... the controller only regain track when it was became a controller but not the hand
