Question

Quest 2 - Connected to wifi but suddenly "No Internet"

This issue just popped up on my new Quest 2. Was working for since launch no problem. Suddenly tonight no matter which network I join I get the "no internet" message. Internet is working fine on my router as I'm typing this on a computer connected to the same. Also in the app it says "Failed to connect to Oculus servers" and when I try and set/forget the network through that it just hangs and then says "Something went wrong. Please Try again" over and over.

Anyone have any fixes? I tried restarting the headset multiple times.

I'm not sure if this is the issue.  But, from looking around the interwebs, people with mesh networks tend to have issues.  I returned my Oculus because I thought it was broken.  But my new Quest 2 is now consistently losing internet connection.  Stays connected to wifi, though.
This has been an issue for a while and posted on many forums and support sites.  I think it is safe to say Oculus knows about it, but is sitting there with a huge middle finger pointed at the users.

I network my PC's to utilize the UE4 swarm, Windows boots me from my own network occasionally, I reset the router when this first happened (deleting my SSL certificate I installed on my router). I also reset my network, firewall, and what I think eventually fixed the issue for me was reinstalling the certificate on my router. ROG Asus Rapture GT-AX1000... if you have a certificate on your router and you reset it the same could happen to you... also I noticed that door dash transactions were not going thru because the router was blocking any "important/secure" transactions and connections because the certificate was no longer active on the router. this was also blocking oculus services. Hope this helps someone.

Just had this happening to me. I couldn't find the answer anywhere. what did end up fixing it was to get in the phone app, under devices and add the wi-fi from there (I had to re-enter the password of my wifi even though supposedly the headset was already connected to it).

I’m having the exact same issue here as described. I have google home WiFi.

Wifi always connects and says signal strength is excellent, but the headset behaves as if there isn’t a connection. Store won’t load games, can’t join multiplayer lobbies.. etc.

I also get the “connected - no internet” WiFi text but my network itself is fine.

MY current only work around is to manually turn off WiFi, re-enable, forget network, re-enter info, restart headset. Some combination of those things finally gets my headset to function long enough to get connected to a multiplayer game, store, and downloads.

Yeah my work around is very annoying as it requires 10-20 minutes of trying to connect just to play beat saber with someone for example.

Is there an issue with the headset communicating with a mesh network?

I’m using an internet based voice client, while my headset acts like there isn’t internet. it’s deff not my WiFi connection. The headset isn’t communicating correctly it seems.

I’ve only had it since September with very, very low play hours.

what worked from me is to go on devices through the app in your phone, then add the wifi from there (rather than adding the wifi directly on the headset). once added the wifi from the app, the issue stopped for me.

If you have a problem with connecting successfully to wifi but not being able to access the internet, check the date and time on your headset. I had the same issue and it was because a recent update had set the date in the future. Judging by the number of similar reports this is common.

I didn't have the resources available to save all my data, do a factory reset and restore it.

So I found a better option.

I solved this using the "run ADB commands" option in Sidequest (alternatively you could run it from an elevated administrator command prompt in a folder containing ADB) and running the command as written here:

This opens the android settings page in the headset which oculus has tried to prevent you from accessing, and from there you select date and time, disable network time, enter the correct date and time, and you can reenable the network time after that if you like. Then forget your existing wifi connection and reconnect.
This fixed it for me.

The latest Oculus software update set the date to be 2037 and it broke Wifi.  I cannot even use my phone to tell the headset to forget about the wifi connections to set up again.  Oculus Support, this is a real issue and it needs to be fixed asap.  I cannot rest my headset just to then get the same Oculus software that does the same thing again.

Same issue happened yesterday with my quest 1. It's been working fine for years on the same internet and router.  It shows that it's connected to my router with excellent signal but no internet everything else works fine in the whole house

I also ran into this issue after upgrading from an old Asus router/AP to Orbi (mesh network).  After extensive research I found that Quest just doesn't work with mesh wi-fi (which is crazy since EVERYTHING else I have does).

My ridiculous workaround was to connect my Windows 10 laptop to wired ethernet connection and then enable internet Connection Sharing over wireless.  Once that's setup, connect the Quest to it for anything Internet related.

I found a solution with our cable Internet app. We are with Xfinity. I signed into the app on my phone and discovered that the Facebook Portal had been paused. All I can figure is that it was paused after the recent update. I simply unpaused it and it started working again.

I just got a new mesh wifi 6 that is eero pro 6 what I had to do was go into the eero app and assign the quest 2 as a game console instead of default, for the type setting. That fixed it instantly and also made the connection speed faster
