Quest 2 keeps disconnecting from WIFI

Quest 2 keeps dropping Wifi
It's been a couple of weeks and HOURS of google searching and experimenting and it persist.
I haven't timed it but it happens consistently every 5 minutes or so. Just long enough for me to load a game and join a server.

Steps I have tried:
Separate the 2.4ghz and 5ghz into different SSIDs
Restart the Wifi
Restart the Quest
Enable the Experimental feature option Disable Wifi refresh in the settings.
Verbally degrading the hardware and threatening to replace it
Creating a Voodoo doll of Zuckerberg with hair clippings bought off ebay
Wringing my hands in desperate anguish and screaming into the void.

I have an ATT fiber router that's a foot away in the same room with clear line of sight.
I have tried using different bands, 40/80/126

Please help. It's useless like this.

I have found a solution!

I had to turn off wifi 6 on my router (Asus RT-AX56U). There is a problem with connection only in AX (Wifi6) mode.

Same issue here.. it’s obviously the headset, not the networks which had never had an issue previously.. seems to be something wrong with the last update..

Hey there mccu.2024! We know how important it is for Quest 2 to be able to connect to the internet, and we'd love to team up with you to figure this out. Thank you for making us aware that you've already tried a factory reset, taking the device back to its original settings. With the device connecting to your phone's hotspot, we want you to try and connect to another network other than your current network, which it isn't staying connected to. Also, make sure you remove any third-party, unsupported accessories that may affect communication. Once you've tried another network, let us know if that worked. We look forward to your reply!

Hello everyone!

Same issue here. I have tried everything including firmware update on my router, factory reset on Quest 2, several restarts etc.

My issue with wifi connectivity problem occured 3 days ago. Sometimes it connects for a few seconds to my home wifi, but usually it doesn't connect at all.

And I'm pretty sure, that it occures for the first time after last system update.

My Quest 2 also disconnects whenever I try to use the wifi in any capacity. It used to work perfectly fine, but one day everything changed and now it'll disconnect after just a minute or 2 of being in a game 😞

Hello there, GloomyzArt !

We understand that you are  having issues with your Wi- Fi being disconnected. We are here to help you with it. Can you please answer these questions for us?

  • Are you using your headset in Standalone more, or connected to a PC?
  • Is your headset and Meta Quest mobile app fully up to date?
  • Is your Meta Quest mobile app and headset connected to the same Wi-Fi network, including bandwidth?
  • Have you tried a different Wi-Fi or hotspot at all?
  • When factory resetting, was this action done through the Meta Quest mobile app or through the headset?

Once you answer these questions, we will look into it further.

I'm trying both to see which works better, currently can't give a good answer to that

headset and app are both up to date

everything is on the same wifi

hotspot didnt work

i just did a factory reset and haven't had any issues yet, but thats because it wont let me sign into a game to test it

Had issues with connection randomly slowing down so requested new router from ISP.

They said hey take this fancy wifi6 Router, this should fix your problem.
It made the problem 100x worse. I have adjusted each and every setting within the router, I have factory reset my quest 2, I cannot get it to connect to my wifi for more than 3 seconds. I have spent hours trying to fix this and quite frankly i'm never buying meta ever again because I don't undertstand how you have had this issue for so long and you haven't fixed it.
We know you broke something. Fix it already.

I disabled the IPv6 protocol on my router, and that fixed it. Perfectly stable connection now.

Hey there!

Thank you for your message. We understand that you're encountering problems with your WiFi connection. We want you to have a seamless experience! Rather than "Separate the 2.4ghz and 5ghz into different SSIDs" we would advise you to disable the dual-band feature of the router so the headsets can be on the same channel. This may help the headset from joining another channel which can impact the Wi-Fi signal.

Hey Meta, not working. We changed to 5 GHz and the problem remains. All things Mentored in the Article were tried. Chat (which I spent hours) sends us to our Internet Provider? Disable DCHP? Doesnt Sound right.

Best, Rosi

Alright, thanks for the confirmation!

Could you go ahead and attempt to connect to the problematic network and submit a bug report while connected? If you can't stay connected long enough, do you have the option to connect to a different wi-fi or cellular network and submit it that way?

I’m having a similar problem, my quest 2 won’t let me play any online games because the wifi keeps rapidly disconnecting and reconnecting even though it says I have full bars at the bottom. When I went into setting to check it out the wifi kept going on and off between connected and obtaining IP. I’ve factory reset my oculus, reset the router, updated everything including the router and restarted the headset dozens of times. I only get a few minutes of gameplay at least before I get disconnected.

Please help.
