Hey AryaSvitkona, could you confirm which update you're on at this moment? The last update for this issue was around 57.0.0.254.153. I want to confirm that detail and if any other updates have been completed. I want to make sure I bring this up to our engineer team as quickly as possible.

Dear MetaQuestSupport

I'm struggling with the same issue for about 1 week and this very unexpectedly. Cable with PC and headset worked for about half year without problems.
I followed your instructions before in which I uninstall the whole software, try a reboot and reinstall the whole oculus software. That did not solve the problem.

  • I can't connect my Oculus Rift 2 with my Win 11 computer via official Oculus USB 3 cable ("Not connected" in Oculus Software - Device)
  • Headset shows charging symbol if connected via Oculus USB 3 cable with PC
  • If i use a thunderbold/USB-C cable from a macbook, it can connect, but just with the speed of USB 2.0.
  • Switch of USB port doesn't solve the problem

Hey there, AryaSvitkona. We can definitely understand how concerning it would be for your Rift to not connect properly with your PC anymore, and we'd be glad to look into this for you! Could you confirm for us whether or not your PC meets the minimum requirements for PC VR with our devices? We'll be looking forward to hearing back from you!

Dear Customer Support

I can confirm, that this PC Setup reaches the minimum requirements by far 🙂

It worked for about a half year and suddenly stoped working last week. Are there any Log Files, Dumps, versionnumbers you guys need to give further support?

Dear Community
Dear Support

We (support and I via email) are still working on that issue. I provide full detailed information about the setup, logfiles, screenshot and everything that could help. They are friendly and polite, but that really takes time 😉

Tipps & Trick for the community:

  • Run "C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-diagnostics\OculusLogGatherer.exe" to obtain all Log files which could help in a single zip (click "full" and disable "auto upload")
  • Check if cable is correctly plugged in and VR headset is charging -> detect cable damage
  • Check your cable with additional device like smartphone -> detect cable damage
  • Check your cable connection with USB 2.0 (mine works with USB-C to USB-A 2.0 Adapter) -> enclose issue a bit further
  • install official stable drivers from your graphic card brand
  • Check if reinstallation (see page 2 for detailed instructions) works for you

Yeah. I was using Air Link for a while and then I tried to connect to my PC and nothing is happening.

I have tried everything I know of.

Something I didn't even consider that worked for me is a factory reset of the headset

Update: I installed all Windows updates and the connection remains unaffected. So it seems to date that the reinstall of Win 11 is the only thing I can point to that resolved my issue with that particular PC. Unfortunately, factory reset of the headset didn't work for me and a reinstall of Windows is unlikely to be an option a lot of people want to consider.

It seems that I have to consider a fresh installation..

Support is not able to locate the problem. I know that can be difficult, but giving me the same answers and solutions again and again won't solve the problem either...)

After updating the latest Oculus App on 09-Sep, the quest link stopped working. This happend half year ago, tried every thing but didn't work. It was finally solve after I updated my PC from win 10 to win 11.

Right now I have spent a whole day updating all the drivers. I can find the event that Oculus XRSP Interface was not successfully started, but uninstall and reinstall the driver won't work.

Hey hey, GT6only! We just wanted to pop by to lend a hand and provide some troubleshooting steps for you, so that we can get you back up and running. Please try the following:

Restart your PC and Quest 2. This is often the simplest and most effective way to fix software-related issues. Make sure you are using a USB 3.0 cable. Oculus Link requires a USB 3.0 cable to work properly. If you are using a USB 2.0 cable, it will not work.

Try a different USB port on your PC. Some USB ports are not as powerful as others, and may not be able to provide enough power for Oculus Link. Enable USB power management. By default, some PCs will disable USB power when the computer is asleep or in standby mode. This can prevent Oculus Link from working properly.

To enable USB power management, open Device Manager, expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers tree, right-click on your USB controller, and select Properties. Click on the Power Management tab, and make sure that the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" checkbox is unchecked.

Update your graphics drivers. Outdated graphics drivers can sometimes cause problems with Oculus Link. To update your graphics drivers, go to the website of your graphics card manufacturer and download the latest drivers for your specific card. Factory reset your Quest 2. If you have tried all of the above and you are still having problems, you can try factory resetting your Quest 2.

This will erase all of your data, so make sure to back up your files first. To factory reset your Quest 2, go to Settings > General > System > Advanced > Factory Reset. Perform these steps one at a time and check if the issue is resolved after each one. I shared what I got from them. This will help you identify the specific cause of the problem. Hopefully, one of these steps will help you get your Oculus Link working again so you can enjoy your VR experience without any issues.

After this new update my link connection was horrid I spent hours to try and figure out what the cause was and I even got in contact with a support member, they haven't replied in a while so I did more troubleshooting and found out the only way to fix it was join the PTC (Pubic Test Channel) and then I had some fun playing VTOL VR. after finishing my vr session and playing another game, I get a notification on oculus software saying "Update Oculus Drivers" and I clicked update. Now my link doesn't work again, so I know its all because of the Oculus either app or updates. I have tried leaving the PTC, didn't work. I have tried entering the PTC again, didn't work. I went through all the same "troubleshoot options" oculus always gives and never works, didn't work (who would have thought). I'm just at a loss I wanna use my headset but I always feel like there is a issue with something. It could just be these new updates and Oculus will release a hot fix, but its has been days usually a big issue that doesn't let the consumer use the product gets hotfixed in like a couple of hours, but the update they did after the one that broke my oculus made it worse. I hope this gets fixed in a couple of days.

You got the update to the official v57 - like me this morning - and it breaks link again. 🙄

It seems they build in the same bug as in v56.1.

Enabling PTC doesn't help, cause there is no newer version out yet.

I also hope they will fix that soon.

Hey guys! Looks like the PTC workaround that Choleni suggested was short lived, but it was great to see it work when it did. As for now, if you're running into an issue with Link connection on the official v57 release please head over to THIS THREAD HERE. I'll be trying to get this into the hands of the right people so they can look into this further.

Thank you for bringing it to the right hands.....I'm lost without my cable link😅

You have to be kidding me. Link Cable PCVR connection broken with the update a few days ago. Fixed with the hack/workaround of opting in to the PTC. Broken again today. I'm thoroughly fed up with this. Air Link isn't an option.

Here's my version info if it remotely helps anyone who actually might be QA'ing this awful software:

Oculus App Version 57.0.0.238.153 (57.0.0.238.153)

This needs to be fixed sooner than ASAP. This is just ridiculous.

Had the same problems and no other solutions worked for me. What I found was that if you want, factory reset your quest 2 with the mobile app. It worked for me and I hope it'll work for anyone else who has this problem. The little pop up will appear in your quest when u connect via cable(I'm using the Anker USB 3.0 to USB C) and the app on your computer should recognize your quest.
