Quest 3/ Air Link stopped working/ No connection to PC/ PC found but Start Button is greyed out...

I've been using the Quest 3 for almost 8 months now, and before i used the Quest 2 without any problems via Air link/same router/same PC...

This Saturday I'm playing Borderland 2 VR and on Monday the Quest 3 can no longer connect to the PC without any reason.

If I want to activate Air Link via the Q3, my PC is displayed in the Air Link Menü as before, but the Start Button for Air Link remains gray and it says "not connected".

I've already tried everything:Hard reseting the Headset, factory reset, router reset, PC & Quest 3 reset, Meta Quest Link restart via the beta menu in the PC Oculus APP, repair function of the Meta Quest APP, firewall completely switched off but nothing...

Then I read that you should completely delete the Oculus software with all folders and reinstall it.
I did that and lo and behold it worked, for exactly ONE day....

When I booted up my PC today and started Quest 3, the same problem...
The PC is displayed but the start button to start Air Link remains gray and it is not connected.
WHY?
Do I have to completely uninstall the software every time, including all folders, then reinstall it in order to be able to play via Air link for exactly ONE day, which has worked for over 3 years before (Quest 1, Quest 2, Quest 3) without any problems?

The connection works immediately using the original Meta Quest Link cable.
Virtual Desktop APP works also...

PLEASE Help!

Hello everyone I just got word from engineering that they have rolled out a fix for this issue!

If you are experiencing a grayed out button when attempting to launch Air Link or Link, please follow these troubleshooting steps: Put on the Meta Quest headset. Go to "Settings" then select "System". Scroll down to find "Quest Link" and toggle it off, then back on again. Try launching Air Link or Link again.

If the issue persists after following these steps, please try restarting your computer and headset before trying again.

Please do not hesitate to come back to the thread and let us know if you're still experiencing this issue going forward!

Update 6/13/24

Hey everyone, just wanted to give you all a quick update. I've informed the engineers that even after a few hours, we still have several users experiencing the same issue. If you haven't already, please make sure to submit your bug reports

Update 6/26/24

With the launch of V66, a fix was issued that will roll out to everyone soon. Please check your headset system settings to ensure you are on the latest update. As always, please come back and let us know if you are still experiencing this issue after the update.

The new update has fixed this issue, but now we get an irritating "rating" prompt ever time I turn off airlink.

Im disappointed by airlink and switched to VirtualDesktop which is working better in every point:

- connecting

- configurability

- stability

Maybe meta should think about some cooperation with those developers^^

At this Time the update fixed nothing for me...

I get this air link voteing window now, but the connection issue is still there until yesterday.

I have had a Quest 2 for a couple of years now, and have used it extensively to play Steam VR games on my laptop (Dell G7). So the issue of compatibility is not in question. The trouble is I can no longer launch Air Link to play games on my laptop. The 'Pair/Launch' button is greyed out, but every once in a while it will light up, only to grey out again when I try to click it. However, I can launch Meta Link with a cable just fine.

I spent half the day yesterday reading these forums and many others trying to troubleshoot this. I've fully reinstalled the Meta app on my laptop after deleting every trace of it, tried 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz wifi, with/without ethernet, firewall exceptions, VPNs are disabled, air link is turned on, etc etc.

One thing I noticed is OVRLibrary Service is stopped and won't start. Not sure if that's an issue.

Any help is appreciated!

Simply restart quest link under settings -> System -> Quest Link.

But you have to pair again every time, it is annoying.

Another option is virtual Desktop for about 20 bucks. I got it and will never use AirLink again cause VD is working way better for connecting to the pc

Same issue with USB but VD works properly. It's a bit annoying !

I got the v66 but haven't tried it yet

It works again if you deactivate and reactivate Quest Link under system, its more or less a known issue

I have a problem with linking my Quest 3 to my computer via 5G Air Link.

The computer itself, is connected to my network via ethernet cable, and the Quest is connected to Wifi. The Wifi has two, separate SSID's, one 2.4G and one 5G. While connected to the 2,4 band the Quest Air Links with no issue (apart from the fact that it's horrendously slow, that is), but as soon as i connect to 5G, the Quest doesn't seem to see my PC (The PC app shows that the headset is not connected, the Quest doesnt see any PC's to link to).

The 5G internet itself works just fine, i can browse on my Quest and PC normally, but the Air Link doesnt happen.
What's more interesting, i used the command line to ping my 5G connected Quest from my PC, and got a normal response, so some connection is obviously there.
I also tried connecting my PC to the 5G Wifi instead of using the ethernet cable, still doesnt connect (2.4G still works as intended in that scenario)
Linking via cable also works, but is sometimes inconvienient so i would like to use the (faster 5G) Air link on occasion

I've already tried ressetting both the Quest, and the PC with the App, messing with my network settings, forgetting the 2.4G network on both the PC and the Quest (which means there is absolutely no way to connect the wirelessly now) so im kinda out of options

Any Ideas as to why this might happen and how to fix this??

Got problem with Air Link connection to my PC.

PC - AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, 64 Gb RAM, Nvidia Geforce 4070 -Windows 10, all updates and latest drivers installed. Link to router with ethernet cable.

Router Asus RT-AX59U - firmware latest version installed, created a dedicated 5G WiFi network for Quest 3 use only.

Got no problem with Quest Link connection with USB cable.

Also a Quest3 headset connection to WiFi network is good - signal strength excellent, 1200mbps. Headset connection to internet is excellent, can browse , watch videos and so on.

But when I'm trying to connect with AirLink,  all pre-checked requirements for AirLink is OK, choosing the boundaries and after that connection is always interrupted, and Meta Quest Link on PC says that "Connection with headset is lost, reconnect".

Rebooting all devices doesn't help.

Please assist!

You asked WHY...

Because thats the main reason for this thread.

Over 170 replies, all have the same problem and there is no fix yet...

You can aktivate and deaktivate Air link and pair your quest again, but now you have to do this every time you shoot down your Headset, or PC.

This is definitely an issue with the Air link Software, but Meta has no Patch to fix this problem yet.

You can use Virtual Desktop but VD runs onky VR games from your Steam library...

This issue occurs 3 or weeks ago and there is no permanent solution yet.

I hope we have one before GTA San Andreas VR released in 2030...😉

Re-Pairing doesnt solve problem, after pairing i got all requirements for airlink Green, but when press Launch on headset i got black screen with "loading dots" for second, in this second Meta Quest Link on PC says "We cant find your headset. Please connect your headset". Then headset screen returns to launching airlink screen and second later i got message that headset is connected to PC...

Got no idea what to do

Are the pc and the quest in the same network? Did it ever work? Did you check pc antivirus?

Do you another usb c device to connect to the pc, maybe smartphone to check the usb c port is working properly?
