Quest 3 controller : Trigger sensor is very sensitive since firmware update 1.9.2

Hello

I had this problem happen to me since the Quest 3 touch plus controller firmware update to 1.9.2 I did on November 12. Before that, I didn't notice a problem with them.

Since the update the presence of my fingers are not tracked properly on the trigger especially if I move my finger up or down across the button. It will think I am not touching the trigger while my finger is still resting on it. I have to almost be perfectly centered on the button and try my best not to move it while doing my hand gestures or it will think my finger is not touching it.

I already contacted the support team and they sent me replacement controllers with the same issue.

I hope Meta is reading this so they can notice the regression since 1.9.2 and make an update soon.

I managed to get an update from our internal team, and it looks like the best course of action here would be to submit a bug report so that they can get a more in-depth look. Along with that, I'd suggest testing out the below troubleshooting:

  1. Clean the controller
    • You can also use compressed air to remove any debris inside the controller
  2. Remove any unsupported third-party accessories that may affect button movement or controller detection (such as controller covers, controller attachments, etc.)
  3. Remove the battery from the controller for at least 30 seconds
  4. Unpair and pair again the controller to the headset

Apart from this, I'd recommend keeping in touch with the support team. If you're having some trouble with the email team, you can always reach out to MetaStoreHelp through PM for them to look into your support ticket.

I'm having the exact same issue and it's only on the left trigger, the controllers are brand new they shouldn't be having these issue...

I found THIS fix on youtube/reddit, has anyone tried it?

Whats weird is I guess an update is what caused the issue in the first place, maybe this design choice wasn't thought of in the update?

Nothing on the moderator here, you've been trying and I thank you for that. Meta needs to get their crap together, I have a feeling this issue has already been found but they just don't care.

TheAntiSocializer Looking for frequent updates from your team to make sure this issue has not been forgotten

When you should we expect this to be fixed ? I hope you realize a lot of people have been waiting for over 2 months now right ?

As i though, seems like your engineers really don't care about us calling out issues huh

Hey Surfingpuppy. I made sure that this was flagged internally so they are aware of this issue. From what they've provided me, it looks like the best course of action was attempting the troubleshooting mentioned, submitting a bug report and then reaching out to MetaStoreHelp.

I wish there was more I could personally do, but I'm just a messenger.

I some how really doubt that, this is a 500$ machine it is INEXUCABLE for it to be like this. i personally have already returned one headset for the same issue then had the exact same issue happened to the new headset i was sent shortly after updating the controller software. It is purely negligent to do nothing about this issue, you know this is an issue, the engineering team knows this is an issue, and yet after several months you have done nothing to fix this issue, your methods of "Fixing the issue" Does nothing, cleaning. unpairing, and factory reset.  this is pure negligence towards those who are active members of the vr community and those who are getting their first headset whom are the most impressionable, for such a large company the response we have been given has been absolutely pathetic

Absolutely.

Too bad no one cares around here. Maybe some media outlet would love to make another "People are complaining about the controllers" article at this rate. Aparently that's the only way things are taken seriously

This bug is so immersive breaking that it has turned me off from continuing to enjoy VR as a whole. I noticed after reading all the help posts, that Meta Support will reply direct and not have some contracted third wheel to handle a thread with a huge amount of traffic. Every thread is the same exact thing, they say to the affect of "thank you, the team is aware and a fix is on its way", give the same exact cookie cutter tips to resolve it and to file a ticket, then flag it as solved while the issues still persist months later with zero follow-up. This is sad as I have supported Quest/Meta all the way back starting with the DK1 on Kickstarter. WTH is wrong with these people?! Top streamers who are not in Meta's pocket need to start drilling them in all these issues with the Q3, or they will continue to ignore the reality of their greatest potential system.

It's late March 2024; this thread is 6 months old, and STILL no fix???

Not only is my R controller trigger not working, but my Q3 will not switch to hand tracking unless I take the batteries out of the controllers.

Well, it's been 4 months and I'm still experiencing this bug every day. It makes certain gestures and movements impossible in some games since it won't register trigger pressing if the system believes your finger is raised from it. I'd be happy to assist any way I can if it gets this fixed faster as it has gone from irritating to just simply an impairment I'm trying to work around day by day. Hope this is solved soon

I assure you that this is not a solved and i am keeping an eye on this post.

TheAntiSocializer I think it's time we have this issue fixed by now. Seems like half a year is enough waiting don't you think?

If you can'T help us and you're just a "messenger" than can we talk to someone that can do something? I don't see the point of talking to you, making bugs reports and following mindless troubleshooting advices if nothing is being changed.

We'll be waiting for answers

tossme in this mix, got a quest 3 on v64 I think and left trigger is not sensing my finger most of tge time, tried cleaning it before, but by the looks of it, it's software thanks to others responces. yes, this needs to be looked into better and solved as that can disrupt games for people. people wouldn't expect nintendo to release a console with a flawed button or touchpad from an update and ignore the issue would they?
