Rift S Headset Sensor Check fails after Windows Update

Hello everyone,

My Rift S VR mask stopped working after September's Windows 11 update.

What's happening is that  even though DisplayPort and USB are successfully connected in the Meta Horizon Link, when it is trying to check the headset sensor it fails.

Any ideas?

Hi eskapaniโ€‹ ๐Ÿ™‚

Google Ai says this about that issu:

A failed sensor check of the Rift S headset after a Windows update is usually due to reset camera permissions or restarted USB power saving modes in Windows.

Allow Windows Camera Access:

After updates, Windows often blocks access to cameras for desktop apps, which disables the headset's tracking cameras.

  • Open Windows Settings (Win + I).
  • Go to Privacy & Security (or Privacy) -> Camera.
  • Enable the option "Allow apps to access the camera."
  • Make sure the Meta/Oculus app also has access.
  • Then unplug and replug the headset's USB and DisplayPort cables.
