Question

Stuck on the pull tab pairing controller screen

All my sons games were showing locked and when I would cast to see what he was seeing it only would show black boxes. After doing some research it said to do a factory reset. So that is what I did. We got the headset paired but then we got to the controller pairing screen where it shows to remove the pull tags on the controllers. We don’t have the pull tabs anymore as we have already pulled them when we first sat up the headset. I saw a post on here to let the screen sit for 5-10 minutes then it would go to the next screen. After 10 minutes it was still on the pairing controller screen with the pull tabs. I even took out the batteries and put them back in. Right now his left controller is the only controller that works. We are in the process of getting him a new right controller. How can we get past this screen so he can play again. He is very not happy with me right now. Lol (Even though he was all for doing the reset to play, but we didn’t know this issue was going to arise) any help will be much appreciate so my son doesn’t highly dislike me anymore!! lol

    Hi Peyton6316 🙂

After 10 minutes it was still on the pairing controller screen with the pull tabs.

Wait longer .... the pull paper screen will go away eventually and you can continue. If you don't want to wear the headset while waiting, cover the proximity sensor, so the Quest does not go in sleep mode.

Right now his left controller is the only controller that works. We are in the process of getting him a new right controller.

You can't complete the controller pairing with only one controller working..... you need both.

So, you have to wait until you got the new controller.

Not being one to normally give parenting advice, but having 4 sons, you need to be setting the rules, not the other way around. Teach him patience, and respect for his parent(s) it's necessary to grow up to be a responsible adult. A child might be better living in the real world rather than a simulation, so I would keep usage to a minimum.
