Question

V76 Broke Link

Anyone else?

Exact same setup as was working a few days ago. (using USBA-USBC cable). Updated to v76.  Now it just keeps rapidly connecting and disconnecting, and hand tracking starts and stops working.

I did a factory reset for any Meta support staff that would like to ask.

V76 has known problems community wide atm, you can reinstall v74 in the meantime following my guide here. https://communityforums.atmeta.com/t5/Get-Help/Latest-Meta-Update-Breaks-eye-tracking-and-avatars-for-QUEST-PRO/td-p/1311837

Meta still hasn't responded on the matter.

Does this work if my headset itself has updated to a version of V76?

Also - do you need to keep it to the UK? I guess I changed to NA and it still installed V76.

Ah apologies unsure for the UK part but I'm unaware of v76 for the headset itself other than PTC build ( which if you are u can uncheck that and it'll roll back to v74.

Per community v76 is just on the software side atm. Ensure you're fully uninstalling and THEN rebooting, BEFORE you reinstall. Disable updates after. If not then might need to disable the ovrserver and client exe's in your FW from internet access, uninstall , reboot, install ( before launching the app immediately validate the rules are still set to block outbound access.

I'm also trying to understand what would've changed that made it only work consistently on USB3 PCIe card ports vs. my motherboards native USB3 ports, which seems to be the problem.

Though even when using the ports that are consistent, hand tracking stops working the moment I connect with link. If I end link (using the controller, since I can't with my hand), hand tracking doesn't work without a restart.  Controller tracking does.

Same issue as usual... Forced unready updates making developers and users suffer. Thanks Meta!

    New update today. Same issues.

    Charging/disconnect issues.

Annoyingly - hand tracking stops working if you connect to link and then want to go back. You have to restart the Quest to get hand tracking back.

Another update (April 23) and still broken hand tracking in Quest 3 if you enable Link and then go back to Meta OS, and still broken USB3 connectivity with PC when Quest 3 is powered off.

I do wonder if anyone looks at this stuff when considering fixes.

Hello Xypheron, it's total carnage here too. I was on V72, I only play Iracing with this Quest 3.

Everything was going great, to avoid being disturbed during my races, I always turn off the Wi-Fi.

Yesterday, I put my headset in, turned on the Wi-Fi, first it showed me V74, then it rebooted, and then I saw that V76 was available, so I did it too.

Then I went into my sim, activated Link, and there, I barely moved my head, and there were black artifacts, huge lags, almost impossible to exit by clicking the "leave Link" button.

I searched until 12:10 AM yesterday, I was going crazy!

Here I am, coming home from work, new update in the app and in the Quest, I tested, it works again!

I restart my PC, install my simulator, activate the link, and here we go again, full of lag in the interface.

    I5 13600K 4800Super 32GB of RAM, official Oculus cable for a fortune!!!

Why did I upgrade to V76 when I'm not in the public test (PTC)???

And there's no way to go back to V72, that's pretty stupid too!

My link also had this problem when I updated to version 76.  At the start mine can be fine for several minutes but then the lag kicks in and gets very severe.  Even without starting a game just the interface gets extreme lag moving my head or the controllers.  Unusable.  7800x3d 7900xtx official link cable as well.

Glad to see there is more uptick on this issue so they fix it.

I try to keep it civil, reasonable, but this is completely bonkers. Ironically, for me it was the public release that screwed up link. The PTC versions I was on before didn't do this!

Hi everyone and thank you all for bringing these issues to our attention.

To get these fixed and to create the best possible user experience, we would like for everyone to send us bug reports, you can do this on your headset by pressing the Meta/Oculus button five times in a row. Alternatively within the mobile app you can submit a bug report by following these steps:

    1. On your phone, open the Meta Horizon app.
    2. Tap Menu at the top of your Horizon Feed.
    3. Scroll down to Support, then tap Report an issue.
    4. Tap Report a problem, then type an explanation where prompted.
    5. Tap Send in the top right.

Please be sure to provide as much detail as is available about these bugs, and we will have the circumstances surrounding the device (For example which apps were running, activity logs etc), once we have these, we can get to work on fixing the bugs and getting everyone back to gaming!

We look forward to hearing from you all!

Bug report sent now.  For me it only happens with the USB 3.2 20Gbs Type C port and doesn't happen with a Type A to Type C adapter using the USB 3.2 10Gbps Type A port.

I have the issue of the app takes forever to open the not connecting to link for flight simulator posted that here on on msfs website  https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/meta-quest-link-app-version-76-0-0-452-315-76-0-0-452-315/718541?u=t58x3disdakg I have found that it's quicker to head into settings on the PC go to installed apps then do a repair of the oculus software then one that is done put on my headset (quest3) then it will link and run fine but what a pain!!!
