A Mipi interface

The Samsung S4 is the first 5 inch panel that has test cables readily available with which to
Attempt to make a breakout connection (40 pins). It is a mipi interface ( confirmed by some c code).

So this thread topic chases any development of mipi interface boards or fpga hardware code
And any cell device that has the mipi connector mapped and a test cable. You need the test cable as the 40/50 pin connectors I call micro as they are so small even the expert SMD electronics enthusiast will find them challenging.
Please prove me wrong!

So here's the first link I found to similar development:

that dragonboard page said right now it only does mipi(2 lanes). afraid not enough for a 1080p panel.

the VX5A3B looks good, is it available yet? price?

We should make contact with this chap.
Mike has the equipment to reverse eng a mipi, as he
has done for the nano. Here's hoping he could do a 4 lane
    DSI with clocks towards 1GHz.

I am hoping that we dont need the full mipi bridge type chips
for these panels. 'These panels' are probably most of the small (< 7")
screens for HMDing. And HMDing is currently only in its infancy, so this
application is simply not in the scopes of the chip merchants.

Take the Samsung Galaxy S4 (and all its children). There are no signalling
chips on it. So somehow the clock and differential lanes are translated to
the panel connections with some sort of resistance/induction/cap network,
unless there are tiny chips embedded in the flex.

There are two modes of mipi, command and video. Hopefully the S4 et al
are 'dumb' video, so we could utilise a IO-capable fpga at about $20 per board.

Very nice, but not an integrated chip solution. Very complex and large, overall. Not usable in this situation. :)

exactly. Now I have my eye on altera based DE0-Nano cyclone IV with 22K.
Looking at Displayport IP and some sort of mipi back end to a sink device.

The Displayport's IP target devices are those in that evaluation board (the video kit)
which has transceivers for > 14G signals. But I think those are overkill for mipi lanes
so maybe the de0-nano could fit.

The nano is $99 with cd etc, and it has an accelerometer and a magnetic sensor.
Plus you could fit two sinks in for two eyes.
