A Mipi interface

The Samsung S4 is the first 5 inch panel that has test cables readily available with which to
Attempt to make a breakout connection (40 pins). It is a mipi interface ( confirmed by some c code).

So this thread topic chases any development of mipi interface boards or fpga hardware code
And any cell device that has the mipi connector mapped and a test cable. You need the test cable as the 40/50 pin connectors I call micro as they are so small even the expert SMD electronics enthusiast will find them challenging.
Please prove me wrong!

So here's the first link I found to similar development:

Looking closely at video mode of the mipi specification, this mode is simple. There is no
controller on the periphieral display board.
There would be no commands, no low power mode.

Ive come across a lattice mipi IP, but unfortunately they will not deal with individuals.
You have to be a known company employee. I'm quessing this will be common experience
as I try to get IP ( the hardware source code not just API and a netlist).

I am expecting to have to learn all the subcomponent implementations from open
    sources (eg opencores.org).

Check out http://www.signetfpd.com for controller board and LCD panels with MIPI interface.

As of october 2013, I have been casually aquiring a fpga education.
Grabbing lots of vhdl literature on my ipad, and finding the good open
    source fpga sites.

    I have found gadgetfactory.net, hamsterworks.co.nz, programmableplanet.com,
    saanlima.com (pipistrello board) , etc.

Am about to order a pipistrello spartan 6 lx45 board which has lots of IO pins on the board.

I will play with hdmi and edid to see what can be done with the bitstream.

I expect the fpga open source community to discover/implement the mipi interface to the tiny 5"screens soon.
These panels although expensive (compared to their current $40 lcd grabs) should be useful
in a lot of applications other than head mounted displays.
