Crescent Bay headphones a joke??

should not be attached where you can't use your own headphones..

personally earbuds are best like the Bose QC20 where it is active noise cancelling

its far superior than over ear because the bass is deep because of the seal

no overear as it heats up the ear as well

Agree with EarlGrey, one of the (few) annoying things for me is the rift on, cans on, cans off, rift off sequence I constantly need to do IF i'm checking my work for audio as well as visual. And many times I forget the headphones are on and try to take the rift off... not very ergonomic.

Much like mp3s replaced physical (for many) I think generally, especially for gaming rather than hi-fi applications, the vast majority of people, including hardcore sound nuts like me (I use AKG K240s phones on my gaming PC as It's the same one I edit music on) will prefer the convenience of built in earphones. If they are tailored to suit VR and are targetted by VR developers then that's a great bonus on top.

I fear a little lack of bass perhaps, and in my case I like good volume so I hope it allows decent amplification if it's going to bypass my usual studio quality audio interface's outputs, but I very much welcome this improvement to ergonomics and ease of use. I detest wires at the best of times so anything to reduce them while also wearing a HMD is fine by me.

    most likely for commercial applications

never to be released to consumer as it would cost too much for each person and warranty unless they inflate the price 10x it's worth to fix it up to 5x of its total cost throughout its life before next product

in the future I see the only limitation to VR would be people's talent

smell may never, ever be truly simulated tho

still.. in between its like going to a store and seeing old movies in DVD, Bluray, HD-DVD but of VR movies every movie would be worth watching

idk how they will market that but the new market would be so good that people who don't have jobs now would

there's a lot to migrate to the VR tech world

in all honesty someone has to bring the awesome of the past from the DEAD like not making Flight Simulator X die because it's REAL enough to be a great VR game/simulator

and other games like Need for Speed Shift 2 need full 6 DOF and 3D w/o artifacts

seeing the rpm meter in vorpx is cool w/ tweaks but some artifacts remain on the screen but in no artifact position.. it's too zoomed in to be real

We are talking about their technology to make custom HRTF for users with a regular photo. That will not add to the price of the Rift.

hopefully people cant make the sphere themselves

just the speakers and sound processor be made by Oculus.. or better yet Creative with XFI.. or just the proprietary software

usually when something is made from strictly ONE company it comes half-assed than if it was combined by/with something else

still tho its full assed when its the product by itself "unmodified" but its at HALF potential

I'm in with Grey and Sharp - I think integrated sound will be really nice to have.

There are the sound advantages that Palmer talks about, but on a more personal note - the whole sequence of putting on the Rift, putting on headphones, taking off headphones, and then taking off the Rift is a cumbersome process. And all of that is on top of having to mind cables - just as others have said.

And similarly, when others try it out, they pretty much always try to take the Rift off first and since they aren't familiar or necessarily as careful as I would be, that can put strain on the frontpiece and distance adjusters.

I want fewer cables, easier mount and dismount, and less trouble. I'm full in on integrated audio.
But... but... but... I just NEED to know about the Baba! The Baba has me hypmotized!

No one is talking about the sphere, that is not the point. Perfectly customized binaural from a photo is why this is important.

Oculus will not make speakers, they will buy their elements from some other company.

X-FI has NOTHING that could improve the VR experience. Creative is best at false advertising and not at making good audio technologies.

That's because Bose headphones are mainly heavy bass. Check out the link with measurements I posted.

Quoted for truth. If there's anything Creative has done, it's crippling the entire game audio industry.

    the clarity it does..

    I can't live w/o

I mean.. I heard a violin play at church and thought it was a VHS recording but actually it was real life..

and I have to say.. the computer with my X-fi makes it sound better than real life

so I would agree in saying it does not sound real but it's like making people who are visually blind and need to wear glasses have to wear glasses on the PC or people who are handicapped have to wear their wheelchair height in VR

some audiophiles complain about the audio being bad on apple store iTunes than their plate sound recorder player because its actual

you vintage fools are what is going to cripple advance technology sophistication processing results

if you people prefer cars w/o ABS, traction, carburerator style, naturally aspirated

don't stop the people who want full technology with force induction and nitrous

it's like preferring high watt candecent bulbs vs high powered LEDs at a FRACTION of the power but it doesn't look as "natural" even at similar K color rating

I think with the right 'tuning' it would sound right

XFI crystallizer by itself turned on doesn't make it sound much good but with the right EQ setting it does make it much better

Proove it. Post some audio files comparing X-FI with non X-FI.
