In the first video I love how he just instinctively pulled the gun closer to his face for sniping. That's awesome. I have the Cabela's Top Shot Elite Gun and I only tend to do that when I stand (I look forward to actually running and crouching).

Now I don't know if the "over-head wire harness" (name I'm using?) will come with it but, it should definitely be an option if not. At least until we can get wireless oculus with acceptable wireless latency.

[EDIT: I just noticed an item connected the weapon, I assume for some kind of position tracking? I also have seen this in the Omni videos where there is a "tracker" strapped to that "gun". Is that being used to track direction/heading separate from the rift? For the "omni" its a kinect, oculus and I assume addition positional tracker on the weapon? What's the setup for Cyberith? Sorry if this has been posted but, I have searched and maybe I've missed it. ]

it looks less restrictive than the omni treadmill, but also look like it will have a fancier price, too?

Less restrictive (movements, special shoes vs. socks) but also a solid full metal build! I guess we can assume a higher price for this, but a full metal Omni wouldn't be below 500$ as well, would it? Can't wait to get one for my lab :-D

The differences as I understand it from the omni are...

1. No special shoes and grooves. You can freely move your feet and its designed to be used in socks.
2. No need for tracking in either shoes or a Kinect. The ring itself senses the direction you are pushing.
3. Can crouch and jump, can also sit. (Sitting support is unclear in the pictures. The demonstraor is more or less "sitting in the air" which suggests that the right can lock vertically and hold a man's weight...

Interesting video. Summed up: The Omni guys wanted 2,000,000$ for 10% of the company and all venture capitalists said "lol, no way".
In April this year, the investors changed their minds and backed Virtuix after all

Oh btw for those of you who have missed it, the Cyberith Virtualizer will be on Kickstarter on July 23rd.
Here is the kickstarter teaser video:

And yet another video, showing BF4:

The Cyberith Virtualiser is filling all the gaps the Omni has, and is rapidly developing their model towards what will eventually become commercial.

The Omni team seems to believe they've reached a "good-enough" model, that they can market.
They are wrong, and I believe that if they do not go back to the drawing board, their company will go under. Sometimes drive is not enough, you need innovation, you need something unique. Selling foot apparel, and a self-enclosed banister is not enough.

At least they quit the 1990s style of website and logo and entered the 2010s

Maybe their Kickstarter will reveal some improvements they've held back, or a roadmap, but so far I haven't seen much that's changed except the Virtualizer's colour scheme (which does look good), and the base that's been getting a little bigger each time.

It still appears to have the same issues as before. Movement is restricted - can't stride outwards as far as you can with the Omni - resulting in a strenuous 'shuffling' motion. This detracts from its potential as an aerobic workout, making it a harder sell to families. Maybe it's a better an-aerobic exercise for the legs, but I prefer something faster and closer to a natural gait.

Can't sit and kneel in the same session (unless that's been fixed).

Need clarification about safety - is it possible to fall awkwardly due to the flexible support? Would improper setup risk crushing your knees against those diagonal bars? Tuncay's legs never seem to be aligned with them in the videos.

The posts are still too close, making crouching unfeasable with rifle-style peripherals like the delta six, which is a shame coz I'd like to pick up one of those bad boys.

A flat base means shoes aren't really an option. I know they're trying to spin this as a positive, but I think they're compromising comfort with this approach - I've never seen anyone at the gym use a treamill in their socks, and I'm sure that's not just for good hygene. Maybe you can wear socks over shoes, but they'll wear out pretty quickly if you do that. It's not ideal, I'd prefer they offer custom footwear.

Meanwhile, it's a safe bet that Virtuix have continued innovating in the last 12 months. Bluetooth we know about, but the extra investment they've had since the Oculus/Facebook partnership is almost certainly letting them make other improvements they've yet to reveal. For instance, they've said they've been researching slip-ons for shoes and have demonstrated a prototype support that shows how crouching could be added as an optional upgrade. I think crouching's a bit overrated anyway TBH. Sitting is more useful and you can already do that with the Omni. You're paying a lot more, and sacrificing space to do squats (which are very tiring btw!). Obviously it's a nice option to have, but I'm concerned that forcing it into the standard design will make it unaffordable for some of us. Maybe they'll add a non crouching version for that reason? That'd be my guess.

Admittedly, I probably am a little biased in favour of Virtuix (hehe) - because I've tried it and know how amazing it is, but don't get me wrong I think it's great that there's a European company making an omni-directional treadmill. It would be strange if Virtuix were alone in this, and as everyone knows, competition is healthy. Cyberith have shown great professionalism throughout, and seem to have been working really hard to get to this point, so I wish them well. I will almost certainly back it, as VR needs more people pushing for locomotion in VR.

I'm looking forward to the Kickstarter in the next few days, I just hope we won't see too much of this:

Of course it's fine to use an animated model, provided it's actually possible for someone to pull off
those moves.

Having felt that kind of freedom on the Omni, I believe everyone has the right to expect it. I hope Cyberith will be able to deliver a similar experience. This is not a throwaway product, it should be with you "in the long run"

(Off topic - Anyone here remember the barcode battler? Still the only gadget so disappointing it left me in tears.

Ha! I remember the barcode battler. Never had one, but I remember thinking it was cool.

Anyone remember the Tiger Game.com? It had some innovative features for the time (touch screen, internet) but the graphics were horrible,
