Full-Dive Technology Idea

Ok. Hey guys i have a rough theory of how full-dive could work.

Take an EEG, used to measure electrical impulses of the brain. If you would use a tech like that to send signals back as well as receive them, while at the same time diverting them into the PC (Player Character) rather than into a persons real body, then there is the full dive system right there. The only problem would be how to calibrate it all, but with the advanced tech we have, I have no doubt that it could be done.

There's my theory. I think it could work but if you have doubts just tell me and i'll try to improve it!

If there was a way to put the players irl body to sleep whenever they logged on their mind could still work, similar to the same way dream could work and aside from a little tossing and turning. Your body would be motionless. So there would be no need for muscle relaxants, however a machine that can put someone to sleep on command without use of drugs is beyond my realm of knowledge.

Some of you aware of lucid dreaming...
One day we will have the techniques and tools of inducing "controlled".... scenarios in form for lucid dreams. . ...now imagine networked ... i.e. mmo type of lucid dream.

I'm fairly confident that it is nowhere near that simple.

Theoretically in a couple of decades you will be probe nano wires that connect up to all your nerves ocular, olfactory, auditory and spine hooked up to a 3d nanocomputer hub beneath your skin, replacing all your nerve inputs from a virtual body. But as keen as I am on VR I cant imagine myself goig for implants, except when I am a bed ridden geriatric.

Self replicating nanobots that build macro scale objects already exist its called DNA. When people talk about nanobots just think about genetic engineering and all the limitations involved with lifeforms.

You guys are missing the other side of this convo. yes it could happen in the next 5 years, but the simple fact is that there are people out there that can use this for them self. A coma by definition is just a vegetable state of mind, and with that if any one was able to get through the coding that is part of the headset they would be able to control another person in real life. VR is still a dream that can't be implemented with today's tech. unless someone was able to come up with a "headset" that had hundreds of sensor that can be used for high power output in order to intercept the signals that roll through the brain, and then you would need to be able to turn thus said individual's conscientiousness into code. that alone would take advance coding techniques that aren't out yet (or are being used in secret). with that you would need an advanced firewall that would only be able to detect the person using own codes and be able to transmit them back into the brain that it is originally from. or anyone could have lets say there own personal army of brain dead "zombie's". There are to many risks in this technology to be able to use in any sort of practical use like gaming. VR needs to be just that. Virtual Reality. For every case that you bring up for being a good thing you can knock it down with being able to do the exact opposite.
FVI: i may not be a scientist, but giving much thought into this and looking into it deeply you would need to be able to secure the pure fact that noone will be able to duplicate the coding used to make a person go virtual and have multiple firewalls in place that would be able to subdue such attempts.
Like with Hitlers Germany they were able to make great leaps in tech, but at what cost. when is the cost to great and needs to be put to a stop. Think about this when you come up with a great idea that could work.

I like the idea like everyone else. being able to put the worlds problems behind and just have a little fun in a place that is complete fantasy. matter of a fact its a dream, and one day it will be a reality. There's not a whole lot of difference between Virtual and actual Reality, but not with today's tech. There needs to be more pure hearted innovators in the world before it can be something we can implement in today's reality.

And for the convo of nano tech. this is a bad idea as the theory is all based on using wireless signals to control the nano bugs or wires. With that once again you could have anyone be controlled by simply finding the right signal to intercept these code out of the air. Furthermore, using little machines would require a lot of self Regen abilities for such tech, and Regen is just not possible. It goes against one of newton's laws of physics, nothing can be destroyed nor created. But, matter is just a for of cooling energy. So you would need to be able to absorb energy through osmosis not create it through sugar in the blood or body (that would defeat the purpose anyways in keeping someone alive if a parasite was taking all the nutrients in the body to satisfy it's own needs).

I do like were you guys were going with the nano tech, but it would be more of a hindrance other then a help to the matter. It's pointless to put someone into a computer if they are only going to be able to stay there for a few hours and then have to be pulled out because they will need to eat and replenish there fuel reserves. Also the wire would be a good, expensive, and irresponsible move for someone to do. The surgery would be way to expensive for the average person to make use of it, and the salt in our body would erode any wire out in the world today.

Neuroscientists inhibit muscle contractions by shining light on spinal cord neurons

probably they inserted the gene by a plasmid DNA ring. A genetic tool similar how bacteria or virus smuggle their genes into the nucleus. Ha, a genetic VR hack.
Maybe in future humanity will modify its genome in order to let the spinal neurons express this light active
switch protein. That would be crazy man.
Insert some nano LEDs embedded in an optic fibre into the spinal cord and the VR party can begin.
Seriously, that is not that absurd. Think about that.

Ever watch Transcendence? VR is just a stepping stone for civilization. With the advent of Nanobots things will be possible most people could only imagine. Ever heard of the 2045 Initiative? 2045.com really off subject, but it really is all connected. VR is just a medium.. a means to an end. Sounds crazy now, and the timeline is probably off, but it is interesting none the less.

yeah that video was quiet a brain storm. Not so sure about neo humanism, but this optogenetic switch is
so fucking awesome and much much better than any nanobot could possibly be .
haha, why do we need freaking nanobots if we already can
modify the neuron by itself with natural proteins....
I am stunned for this week, i knew nothing about optogenetics. it is also a relatively new field.
