More resolution = more revolution

Hi

The next generation of small display is on the way. Look at the new smartphone Sony Xperia Z or the new HTC One, they have a full HD display.

Because not only the most high viewing angle but also the resolution cloud make the Oculus VR glasses to a revolution, try to implement such a full HD display as soon as possible. Also guess about to place two displays vertically - for each eye its own, to get even more resolution.

With such a VR glass you have a real revolution!!

Thanks for thinking forward.

This is why I will buy a High Res Oculus Rift...

    VR Cinema3D

    - Top-Bottom 3D movies are available.
    - You can lock the view clicking an eye icon.
    - You can adjust the sound volume. Mute audio by clicking speaker icon.
    - The scale of the screen is automatically adjusted according to aspect ratio of movies. But, if you want to control screen size, you can.
    - Lightings of movie theaters are changed according to the brightness and the color of movies.

sony xperia Z has an incredible display. i have seen it, i actually REALLY tried hard to see the little pixels, i went as close as possible with my eyes but all that happened is that my eyes became fuzzy, no way to see pixels. so i guess in the rift with the lenses u might probably see pixels then but they would not be big for sure

Sony xperia screen really are excellent. When I was using my FOV2GO, I was using a Galaxy SII. I then tried with my friend's Xperia, and holy moly, the difference is unbelievable. Much more crisp, clear, and the screen door effect was greatly diminished.

Yes that igzo display would be a great panel to put in an HMD.

6.1 inches is just about perfect for a Rift. Users with low end hardware could upscale. High end hardware could run at native 2560x1600.

The only problem is that's a prototype. Toshiba was showing a 6.1" 2560x1600 panel around two years ago that didnt show up in any consumer products that I know of. Had it been, we might have had that toshiba panel in the DevKit right now if the price was low enough.

It looks like LG is joining JDI and Sharp in the 6 inch WQXGA (2560x1600) race for 2014:

    .. so who knows!

well more resolution while same or even smaller screen size is nice in the first thought, but if u think again, it will cost kind of exponentially more processing power for the gpu so we should be carefull with that i would say 2560 x 1600 really should be the maximum to keep the quality, this is already pretty much to process

You can always run lower resolution than a display supports if your computer isn't fast enough. Also, they are going to be designing for the hardware available at launch, not what's available today.

well not quite in my opinion, 1280x1024 on 1280 display looks a bit better than scaled on 2560 i would say

Well, sure, native resolution is the ideal, but think of the poor trade-off that would be. You're not going to take real resolution away from your users so that the subset of users with low-spec systems don't have to view anything scaled. Also as the low-spec users upgrade their systems over time, they would themselves also be denied real resolution that they could have used for the later end of the product's lifespan.

ok, I got a simple question, well, not so simple but I'm curious about, why don't they use some kind of mirrors and two screens instead of using one screen and divide it in two by the 3d tec. I mean having one of the screens above or behind your head and having visual access through mirrors, I don't know how dificult it could be but I think it's possible. Thanks for any answers you have, and if it's a good idea please send me one :D . sorry about my english
