No impressive VR app so far.

Similar to Augmented Reality, when it was first introduced, everyone thought it was cool but after so many years, we have not yet seen a successful application/game which convincingly makes good use of the technology.... I am afraid VR is having the same issue as Oculus Rift DK has been released for a while already, nothing is really impressive, practical and necessarily...

Do you agree?

You can admit it. Reading between the lines you're most interested in 'Adult' Rift applications. Rest assured there are developers for those as well.

Yep, this is the type of thing I was talking about in my previous post. Need more, bigger experiences like that!

The only demo i liked and would pay to use so far was Affected.
The guy has a point. I was expecting that almost 2 years since i got my rifts, i would be playing something more polished.
I have 5 units and use it at work, and its ok and all.
But i do think that for the major public, at least for what have been announced so far, they will have serious content problems when and if this thing is released some day.

Why we dont see Battlefield, Cod, Forza, Uncharted, etc been announced for vr?
I dont see this kind of quality games been released for the rift anytime soon, and if they dont sell enough when cv1 comes out, we never will.

    They promised games like

    Doom ??
    Hawken? (crap implementation)
This Valkirie demo looks like the most polished of then all, still they dont release a little demo for us to enjoy.
Even Alien was only made for the E3 and will NOT be releasing a Rift version, if i can record.

Ok, so go ahead, troll me!!

If you have had a Rift for 2 years you're basically the guy working on a PS4 dev kit in 2011. Your role is to make the content, not to play it, so that when it launches, there will be something to play. Getting to play anything with it is just a bonus.

I was on the first batch of the dk1, i dont even remember when i received it, but that is not the point.
Im not a game dev, i use the rift for previz work.
    Anyway, who cares.

Doesn't really matter if you use it as a foot rest, it's a development kit, meant for development. It's not a consumer product meant for entertainment. That's why game consoles don't release as soon as they have a hardware prototype, they need some time to get that hardware into the hands of developers so content can be created that justifies purchasing it. If you were able to buy a development kit for a console before it was released you would be in the same position.

The answer here is that we are all learning.

This is a new environment and things that work in flat screens may or may not translate well to VR.

    That is the challenge.

The most wonderful demo I have witnessed on a HD rift was "Once" by Felix and Paul.

    http://once.felixandpaul.com/

They started 3d filming by just going out and leaving a camera and then seeing what worked and what didn't.

For someone that has not experienced the Rift their first experience itself is impressive I have demoed to 100s and its the same reaction every time.

    That in itself is impressive.
