No there's 2 they are from the day I joined the forum one was aimed at construction the other Architect and design, for some reason you had to post numerous threads to start a new topic I think that May have changed now! But hence why there are two posts how are you getting on so far ?

Also have you changed your view as before you said all you could see the use for was a walk through?

In an AR capacity I think this could be of use in construction and maintenance. with positional tracking and a good set of plans it would almost like having exray vision. Very handy to know before digging up concrete to find cabling or pipes. Still conduit runs in the slab could be a little hit and miss.

meh, i dont think it would be much use, a monitor is sufficient

There are a few uses, things that a screen cant do! Im currently working on an idea atm which could literally change the way certain aspects are carried out all together, its also low cost and not particularly hard to design the software for either

    IDEABuilder is involved in this.

There was some Rift going on at the AEC Hackathon (and more at the next I'm sure): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rI7Ve5owCs4#t=245

And at the ESRI conference: http://damonhernandez.blogspot.com/2013/07/esri-user-conference-2013-when-worlds.html

A 'use case' is allowing the stakeholders to 'be' in a building before construction starts, to ensure that it 'feels' right, that the doors and windows are correctly placed, have the view they want, all that kind of thing, so no nasty surprises occur after construction begins (or ends).

That's a pretty cool vid and puts me at ease knowing other people are already thinking along the same lines I am and a few others. I was happy to see the idea I'm working on now was not featured in the demonstrations so hopefully this will mean it could be a first. I knew the ideas I was previously thinking about would have been thought about by a wider audience making it harder to create something unique I'm currently looking into getting it patented not so much for a profit but actually creating a unique tool I could put my name to
