Yes, I thought it looked like the player was moving side to side, but the character does not. It is important to clarify this to us.

Most likely that sort of movement was not available in that particular demo? Guys you need to visit their website and watch their videos. Some of the comments in this thread are incredibly misleading and confused - some of you don't appear to have seen their technology in full use in their many YouTube videos???

So the question remains, is there a position tracker in the hub, or do the estimate position based on walking motions? Or is the character at the beginning being driven by physics?

There is not inherent positional tracking. What it does is track each bone's orientation via IMUs and then reconstructs a skeleton from it. Based on the skeletal motion it can infer your position.

The avatar world positioning is based on human kinematics. It is an estimation based on the accurate orientations and some of the acceleration data.
In addition the avatar is physics driven so he can collide with the environment, be blocked by elements and even be pushed back in game.

The positioning of the limbs on the avatar does not drift, it needs a single T pose for a 5+hour session. At conferences we run the 2 3-Space Suits, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Once they are setup they run until the batteries run out without any additional calibration.

You guys have made a really good effort to answer my questions. I hope I didn't seem to critical. I know it doesn't mean much, but if I had the money I would back you.

Alright, new videos up, these should give a much clearer view of the Unity demo from the Prototype and Play last week.

In addition this one is using the Oculus Rift!!
Changing the POV really changes the way you play the game.

3rd person play-through, like from Prototype and Play.

Great videos there, but you have to get more out there and that fast!
You have a great system, it would be too bad to see it not get funded due to slow marketing on your end.

YEI:

Instead of bashing the competition (see here and here), how about you extol the virtues of the PrioVR by doing the following?

1) Show the PrioVR being used for fine control at the hands: something like MakeVR, Buck's VR & Hydra Experiments, or simply a target practice demo with a virtual gun or bow and arrow.

2) Show how to use the input nodes with actual controllers

3) Show integration with a well-known VR demo (e.g. Tuscany)

If you do that convincingly, I'd consider dropping my pledge for the STEM and going for the PrioVR.

Agreed. Let's see some really good vids now of what the PrioVR CAN do. I left some suggestions on the PrioVR forums. It's good to point out the problems with the competition but now back it up and show us the same comparison with your system. I think if you look at the reasons that the STEM system got backed so quickly is people have used the hydra. You need a third party video review of your hardware. Someone the vr community trusts such as Cymatic Bruce. I hope both products get funded because we need the variety and the competition to keep prices low for consumers. I think both products are excellent and both have their place in the vr landscape. What we don't need is another Betamax vs VHS where the best man looses because of marketing hype and compromise. Sorry if that reference is a little outdated for some people. We are all here because we want VR to work and be the best it can be. I hope if the PrioVR doesn't get funded that it's not the end of it because I truly believe that it is the best product for controlling your virtual avatar. It does lack inputs such as buttons but they are working on that and I personally am not entirely sure about holding 2 large bulky controllers in each hand. I would much rather have the dexterity of my real hands translated into the virtual avatar. I may be wrong but until we have all tried all the options it's hard to know. It's still very early days with this generation of vr and I'm sure all these things will come.
