Rift with movies?

I'm just wondering if the Rift had the ability to make movies, such as Avatar, 3d. If it cannot, is there a way that someone would be able to make it so 3d movies with the rift are possible? I'm not talking about head movement in movies (that would be amazing) but I mean just for the 3d effect.
Thanks.

Tried Media Player, VLC, and a half-dozen other applications that claim to play Blu-Ray. It didn't come with a driver disc, but I don't think it's a driver issue.

    Did you try following http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZAbZQDOOio

Out of the box I don't think any free applications on Windows will play Blu-Ray.

You need special plugin for this, that allows several separate output windows per stream, each of which can be controlled by it's own Rift. Otherwise, multiple instances of the player.

I suppose if both Rifts are plugged in you can set display properties to duplicate on both Rifts and the monitor.
For my graphics card configuration I set my Rift as the preferred device, so that I don't get screen tearing while wearing it. Not so sure how I'd get that to work for multiple displays.

ah, thank you for being detailed, yes i meant play movies, sorry.
In that case i cannot wait to see avatar in 3d for the first time! Can you recommend any players that can use the rift for 3d?

    Hi!

You could use this http://goo.gl/rTWuX5 to record your own movies for the rift by using DSLR or a smartphone.

If you want to view 3D SBS movies you can do that by building your own HMD and attach your phone infront of your eyes.
But the rift will probably be more comfortable.

Movie directors can make movies for Oculus. You can look around in the movie while watching it. I think camera must have 2pi visibility lens.
