Screen Brightness Issue

Hey, I have been trying to figure out exactly what has been causing a brightness issue with the rift. I noticed in dark areas in demos and scenes that I have been building in unity that the right eye is always darker. I decided to see exactly what was going on. I googled around and noticed other people complaining about the same issue, but the issue was never resolved nor pinpointed. One person mentioned that it may be an issue with the note screen being overclocked to 75hz. The same problem was apparent when I switched the rift from 75hz to 60hz, so I don't believe that it has to to with the overclock. I took a printscreen and compared the values which were exactly the same. So the issue isn't gameside. I displayed a flat value of 5,5,5 across the entire screen. What I noticed was a gradient from left to right in brightness.

This is a boosted picture from my iphone to illustrate the issue. Ignore the reflection, it's a smooth gradient.

I'm not exactly sure what's going on here, but the issue is occurring somewhere between the final image render and the pixels. I get the feeling it has something to do with the driver board because it's dimming the same direction as the raster scan, but I don't know. I would like to know if this could be fixed via a firmware update. I suppose a slight graduated tone-map could be used to combat this problem, but that would be a band-aid to the problem.

Hope this helps guys!

one image is a test image I created with dark grey levels, the other is how it looks on my Rift when I display it in extended mode through Ifranview and take a picture without the lenses on.
easy to see how the right side is darker than the left.

with my current project this really is an issue!

I can report I had the same issue, but in Unity 5 and since SDK 0.4.3 the problem seems to be solved in my own compilations.

Are we still no nearer to a solution, or can an Oculus member give us a definitive on this?

Its making my latest project awful to play, and im having to manipulate the ambient lighting constantly to try and mask the effect.

One member has has replaced his DK2 screen and it has resolved the issue, pointing massively to hardware.

There really isn't a solution. This is just a limitation of the panels used on the DK2. Pretty much all the units have the problem, but to varying degrees. In general, it's not a huge issue, though on some units it may be more noticeable than others. Sorry for not commenting earlier (I did in other threads, but it's easy for things to get buried).

My dk2 ist realy not usable for demos with dark scenes.
On one side the picture details are lost in pure black while the other eye sees it normal - pure headage.

Tried everything to solve - changed computer, cables, ..

    Can I please have a replacement and/or a new screen ?

a green shade would be acceptable but not some complete hidden picture content
