UPDATE: The announcement has been made official, as indicated by the new thread over here:

I just received "secret insider" knowledge of a HUGE Sixense announcement coming in 1/2 hour!

New Razer Hydra, or MakeVR? We shall see very soon!

Time to start pounding those F5 web browser page refresh keys?

    I'm confused as to why they are saying this is backward compatible with the razer hydra? If you buy this and it comes with two wireless handheld controllers, then why would you still want/need to use the wired razer hydra? This seems more like an evolution/replacement for the razer hydra. Am I missing something?

    Backward compatible means that this controller will work with existing software that already supports the Razer Hydra.
    People who already own a Razer Hydra will be able to play games designed for the new Wireless controller too. They both use the same communications protocol and API. Any game that supports one of them automatically supports them both. This is all very good. Thanks Sixense! All that is left is to make this dream come true. It has been announced. Now it must be delivered. Life will be good.

    Ideally, the new wireless controllers could be used WITH the existing Razer Hydra controllers. You could mount the Hydra base in a backpack, and mount a Hydra controller on torso and foot, perhaps. And still use the full Sixense Wireless controllers. Only a dream, for now...

    @geekmaster

    ...just imagine you falling out of the window trying to add in several controllers on several parts of your body for complete motion control having lost your orientation completly with the OVR on the head trying to hunt who or whatever.
    So instead of motion sickness we would consider that .... motion injuries?!
    :lol:

    I'm still quite confident that I will drop off the chair sooner or later going vr...

    I posted "STEM of a pipe" (for magic smoke). :lol:

    Lol! I've sent a message to Sixsense asking for a clarification on STEM and the number of trackers. I'm sure they're swamped. If I ever hear back, I'll post it here.

    just looks like an update remodeled version of the motion tracking controller I bought already? Same # of buttons and sticks, real touchy to control, found the thing next to useless. Staying with the /gaming mouse and Splitfish Barracuda thanks.

    PS its called a hydra, and uses sixsense programming now to control is. Maybe the handles made it more Ergonomic, as the Hydra is painful to use anymore than 15 minutes at a time.
    pss. Think I'll stick the hydra on the Missus Ebay sight. It hurts me to use it. Someone else with rubber wrists can give it a try.
