my complaints not towards OculusVR's lack of testing or PR is towards the sarcastic comments. if you need to use sarcasm, you don't need to post on this thread.

If you are referring to your sarcasm, I agree!

I agree that this is a silly thread, with a false premise, but please try to be respectful of the OP.

No need for name-calling or personal attack. Thanks.

Honestly, I'm trying, even though the message don't get to destination.

if the goal of dk2 is truly to keep cost down:

send out a 120$ 3D printer and the hardware not able to be printed by the current "bare minimum 3D printers" such as cloth strap or silicon chip(or whatever is being used now) and the cost will continue to be below 350$

people could then print or not print their own case that some claim may be getting scrapped to keep "costs" down.

this may seem convoluted but would be better than giving an inferior Development Kit that only has one camera when the main tracking buff for DK2 relies on seeing the rift.

not everyone can dispose of 350$ when buying 200$ 3d printer and making the rift their self would be much more cost effective

This is a terrible solution for something as large scale as the DK2. There is a heap of user error possibilities and a 3rd party tool to deal with support for. The support problems and requirements alone would inverse any cost savings and generally supply a crappier product to people that are expecting a representation as close as possible to a consumer product.

No. It does not make sense. Even if it were $20 vs $350 it would not be good business sense or good image for the company.

if i could save 330$ everytime i tried a new iteration of a DK, it seems worth it.

LCD screen starts at 100$.. Meeeeep busted.

    No we're going nowhere fast!

The main component of the rift is the LCD screen. I fail to understand how saving 5$ on the rift is going to make it affordable. Upgrades on the rift on the contrary, would be cool, if that's what the OP is really asking for, then he didn't express this very clearly.

And the OP don't understand what a devkit stands for. Nothing prevents him from upgrading his own rift by paying 5$ to add a new camera.. I guess the only thing the OP want is for us to agree with him.
