Then don't buy a rift, make your own VR HMD and start a business.. ?

It's so easy from your point of view, you just demand things.. But try to give now.. You'll see what a f*cking pain in the ass customers are really are!

Heck, I started VRQuake3 and people started demanding before I even finished, I just stopped the project, too much hassle dealing with little know-it-all kids.

Seriously, if the price is the main issue here, just work this summer and get the stupid money..

    This is beyond ridiculous..

Oculus is insulting me by claiming the hardware costs 350$.. hardware +work might be closer to 350..

i commented earlier about me being the worse person if i let them.

insulting is 6minutes and 20 seconds into http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4d3Wli7s6KY#t=133 .. unchecked reasoning such as this is why we get iWhatevers without sd/tf cards.. and it must not be allowed to continue if the solution to the seated versus the treadmill version of the camera input is an extra camera or two and few lamp poles lifehacker.com/5850388/use-a-cheap-ikea-lamp-to-build-an-affordable-desktop-camera-jig

*edit* i did not want people to somehow read into it that i expected lamp poles to be included in the dk2.

I think you are insulting Oculus Rift and it's employees by simply wanting the Oculus Rift HMD for as cheaply as possible.

You insult the company, the staff and those customers who have purchased the DK1 and the pre-ordered the DK2 because paying the price Oculus Rift is charging for the development kit is also for funding the whole venture into VR.

You are either with Oculus and have confidence in what the founders, staff and developers et al have to offer by purchasing a development kit/consumer version or you have nothing to offer except ridiculous expectations.

the price is not the issue as the lack of vision. they're no longer aiming at VR.. they're claiming to only aim at sitting VR.. when the only problem is lack of some cheap cameras.. or lack of ability to add them easily to the current camera. and why stop at such a demand when the next step is to make the central camera the hub for the wireless access point for the whole system? why should i trust someone that claims the next version will be better when they should be selling that version instead?

You don't really expect them to be the best at everything right?

They are most probably getting some focus in one specific issue now and later they'll move on to other prospects. That's how a business is successful. You get good then pretty good at one thing, then invest into other projects when you reach your goal.. Focus is the main thing here.

And again you make absolutely no sense.

You want a kit, that by definition is not perfect, now you say, hey, it's gonna suck.

First of, you didn't even see the DK2.
Secondly, this is a devkit not a consumer product.

I'd say, wait for the consumer product.

And again, you make no sense, you want something to hack on, yet, you want it cheap and perfect.

Again, try to make your own and stop bitching about it, because yours will most probably sucks tons more!

All it needs is 2 cameras??

Maybe oculus is planning to remove IR leds and use the stereoscopic cameras on the headset itself to track position in space all around??

You know, R&D and stuff... ?
