THE KOR-FX IS LIKE THE GREATEST NEWEST PC INVENTION TO DATE!

I COPY AND POST MY POST IN KOR-FX FORUM HERE

I love this vest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! listening to music with it is amazing

after forgetting it's on having a flying valkrie be right over near when we were defending sky mesa was cool

It's like having a strong amped up Sub directly in front w/o the massive power requirement

it would be so cool if it would become full body

I'm sure ordering a couple sets and doing some hacking and mounting it would happen

this is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thx

everything I do on the PC has become better sound wise

IT'S SO GOOD

the vibrations are just right and not RANDOM at all

IT WOULD SELL OUT FOR MONTHS IF PPL KNEW ABOUT THIS LOL

I was at clubs directly in front of SUBS and its like the SAME EFFECT w/o going DEAF

this IS EVEN BETTER Than using an EXPENSIVE racing wheel in racing games

U don't even need a monitor just THIS, a good sound card w/ the right settings, and Bose QC20/QC20i's
http://www.bose.com/controller?url=/...p&Variant=qc20

I'm a Creative ZxR for anyone who cares http://www.soundblaster.com/products...aster-zxr.aspx

I didn't even try all my games yet!!

was listening to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukKfgE6gi8c and flabbergasted

ALL THX TO SOMEONE WHO POSTED THE KICKSTARTER KOR-FX HERE

I was part of the $135 crowd at 499 of 500

it was full when I had the money ready but someone backed out so I took it

then at last day I looked again and it was 499 again..

but the good thing is, it's available to buy now!

the sound effects ARE STEREOO, the music bass actually goes around the vest like it's designed to for left and right

this is awesome

I was actually just using it with a 3D monitor, but I did test with the Rift at the meetup and I thought it was cool.

For the price, I don't think there is much that will have as an impact on immersion. It's certainly not on the level of a motion simulator, that could cost tens of thousands of dollars. But it is closer to that experience than using nothing. In general, I think the Kor-fx is pretty nice. I just don't want to oversell it and give people a false impression.

It's also sort of like the Rift in the way that you just have to try it yourself. I can't take a picture or a video or anything like that and expect you to understand what the experience is like. Especially for VR junkies, it may be just the thing to add that extra level of immersion.

the problem is getting the effect it has on the chest w/ loud bass

the electric bill alone to produce such power would cost as much as the kor-fx does to own in a month, not only that but neighbor problems

people don't take the electric consumption into consideration when purchasing electronics

unless they do it to be further efficient but most people don't

Ok maybe I am missing something but how is this "New" technology?? Doesn't anyone remember the old "Aura Interactor" vests?

This may be a an updated technology but definitely not new - I still have two sets in interactor vests and they still work great - and from the description of the KOR-FX it's about the same thing just placed a little differently.

Yeah, sure, it's like the Aura Interactor. But remember, there were also HMDs from that time period (like the Victormaxx) and they were crap. Also, there were Pocket PCs from the early 2000's and they were junk compared to the iPhone.

I'm still digging this thing, but man does it eat batteries. I love that it's wireless, but I guess that's the trade-off. It takes 4 AA batteries, and I don't think it lasted more than 5 hours of playtime. Luckily I was using rechargeable batteries, but still. I was hoping it would last a little longer.

Just swap out the batteries with fully recharged AAs every day and recharge the used ones

cybereality would you say the kor-fx is better than the FPS vest you also own?

I heard the FPS vest is also quite loud, I can only assume the kof-fx is very quiet.

on the FPS vest it seems it has a lot of official game profiles support, how has that fared for you?

If you are talking about the 3rd Space Vest, I thought that was better technically. It felt more like getting shot or stabbed (not that I know what that feels like...) and had coverage all over your chest, stomach and back. However, I only ever got it to work with a couple of games. The software was pretty lacking.

With the Kor-Fx vest, it is not maybe as impressive technically (it's a simple concept) but I think makes up for it since it works with basically anything that has a 3.5mm audio signal. I was somewhat disappointed with how it worked on Assassin's Creed 2, but with DiRT 3 it was great. Battlefield 4 worked decent as well. Alone it is probably not amazing, but combined with 3D or VR and other immersive tech, I think it helps.

but don’t games with a soundtrack get in the way of the experience, for example, when playing mirrors edge when you enter combat there is music with heavy bass in it, doens’t it get really sickening when stuff like that happens? in that case basically while playing that game while in combat your chest would be be THUMP...THUMP...THUMP...THUMP every 2 seconds like your at a dance club.

I did have a bass shaker attached to my seat, when playing metal gear solid whenever I got detected the shaker went a bit too crazy due to its bassy soundtrack, it just seemed to me like every game with music suffered quite a bit, however CoD was kindof cool given it had no music and just had sound effects of explosions.

I am thinking of this more as an add on to the omni.

I only got an opportunity to try the KOF-FX vest once, and I would generally agree with cybereality, it's not a finely-tuned haptic device that is going to accurately reproduce the experience of getting shot or getting hit, but due to it's simple design it's compatible with any game or media of any sort that has sound. There is tremendous potential for something like this if there was a means to programmatically assign things like a bullet hitting a part of the body to vibration in a certain area. Unfortunately this would probably require more speakers on the vest and it's too much of a niche product for that feature to be considered for most games, so I think this is the best we can hope for at this point. Actually being able to pinpoint the force in the right areas would add so much to the experience though.
