VR suit

ok one of you geniuses needs to make this and my life will be complete. we need somthing like the hal robot suit, but with exo skelington for fingers and feet also, and that need to be attatched to a hydraulic lifting anm which can move you on all axises and rotate 360 on all axises
here is a link to what im talking about (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ysb-Oko3Bg)

i have also attatched a schematic (lol) please geniuses build it, it would be so amazing.

    Hi,
Are there any groups working on using exoskeletons for simulation purposes at all? I understand these types of technology require a lot of development and would probably not fit the budget of the average gamer, but it seems like there’s already a lot research going into exoskeletons in general.

I’m super excited about products like the Virtuix Omni and Cyberith Virtualizer, but they’re both very limited in that they only reproduce flat terrain and provide limited range of motion to the user. A lower-body powered exoskeleton suspended from a support stand (see drawing) would be able to support inclined terrain, steep hills, stairs, running into wall, even kicking objects or having in-game moving objects bump into the player. Is there anything like this in progress already out there in the world?

DARPA obviously. I doubt there is anything outside the military worth mentioning.

On the general subject of force feedback controllers:

I always wondered if it is possible to use off the mill NEMA stepper motors for closed loop control without encoders.
Because strictly speaking a motor is a closed system, if the exact parameters of the representative circuit is known for a specific motor you could measure back emf using only the discrepancy between expected Voltage/Current curves on no load and sampled ones.
High power motors are already somewhat controlled in this fashion using variable frequency drive and a stepper is basically a synchronous motor with many poles. Closed loop control degenerates at rpm limits but we don't need high rpm at all for this kind of application. So the system could be sampled many times with a fairly long time to do dsp between phases.

Well first off you would need a smaller more efficient Hydraulic system aka Bae military experimental then you would proceed with the equation

    d = \frac{a}{\pi} \sqrt{(n^2 + nm + m^2)}=78.3 \sqrt{((n+m)^2-nm)} \rm pm,
    where a = 0.246 nm

    Bam.

    Thanks for the post. (O:

What is the point of using so much energy. Do i miss here something?

Basically in order to do more stuff we need more energy because efficiency is hard capped at 100%. You could argue that we don't need to do more stuff but I argue that doing stuff is the most important thing in life. :D

mybe we will need like 50kw of computing in the future for a super real Matrix with 50micron voxel resolution whereas each voxel acts like a macro-atom with its own light properties, chemical bondings......
Like everyone has his own small cute super computer in his apartment.
We would need some sort of super cheap exabyte floppy disk in future to store that amount of data.

As of now we're still far off from achieving full body haptic suits but (Not sure if this was already posted) a recent kickstarter has popped up and could be a step into something greater.
    https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/kor-fx/kor-fx-gaming-vest-4dfx-haptic-feedback-system

Haptic feedback kickstarters aren't really that popular and have difficulty getting funded but I'm interested if they can deliver what they propose.
See you on the other side! See you starside! SEA side!

Strapping myself into a suit and a pair of goggles that a dozen unknown people have used before me is prospect that inspires a bit of squick in me. I dont want an eye infection.

Well, that drawing is rather awful

I wonder if it is enough to get the OP a patent from the USPTO though.

Haha yeah if anyone builds it I want half the royalties! Lol or at least a little go on it. Must come in fat bastard size.
